this is the best thread I have ever read on slashdot!! look at all you people with your fascinating, unique hobbies outside computers. thanks, this really made me happy. keep it up!
Wow, somebody actually read the article! Come on Slashdot editors, let the 900 earlier posts singing Jobs' praise clue you in to how bias in news is harmful. If you read the link, Jobs and Bezos are clearly excited about the possibilities of the Segway; that's why they participated in the forum in the first place. Jobs was simply making blunt commentary, which is his style. He was not at all critical of the device itself.
Unfortunately, as you have indicated with your example, the premise behind the movie is shit and all the physical kung-fu telephone magic is just implausible candy tossed in as an excuse to blow stuff up. Anybody who thinks this is a philosophical or intellectual trilogy needs to go read some Philip K. Dick or, god forbid, actual philosophy. The question you must ask yourself, however, is whether you can appreciate this movie for the special effects alone, or whether you feel the need to do research to find real cerebral (albeit less immediately gratifying) movies to watch.
I don't see any value in paying $20 a month for rentals. Who watches the 7 movies a month you'd have to rent to make it worthwhile? DVDOvernight.com is a pay-per-rental solution. Much better.
I am thunderstruck by your FAILURE to recognize that the true slashdot bias is against Microsoft! Perhaps you should look in the first 5 posts in this thread to observe the effect to which I refer, modded to +4 at this time for nothing more than an unoriginial one-line denunciation of Microsoft! Perhaps you should look to the last 3 words of this post to learn that YOU FAIL IT!
Ah, the double standard - a common indicator of FAILURE. Are you implying that one should judge Linux by different criteria than one judges Microsoft? Perhaps under your inconsistent scrutiny it is less obvious that YOU FAIL IT!
While blinded by Torvald's hands over your eyes you may have understandably FAILED to realize that the reviewed product is not a self-contained tablet but a wireless viewscreen, it is nonetheless obvious to the rest of us that YOU FAIL IT!
congratulations!
you win the internet!
why not try the next difficulty level?

That added a lot.

You need the latest video cards on linux because it makes the console text real fast. Plus you can hardly see the KDE windows redraw themselves.

can I ask what toolkit you're using to write ruby GUIs? I have not had much success finding a good one.
