Can't you just send your photos out via USB (Firewire would be best, but I haven't seen anyone with the vision to put this into their camera) to the iPod? It acts just like a drive, so why not? It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult of a feature to add to all digital cameras. Most people buy third party memory options, so with the exception of Sony, they're not looking to make money off the purchase of memory cards. Any thoughts?
The ACLU NEEDS to get on this right away. This is so Orwellian and THX-1138. This is a total violation of personal rights and liberties. The FDA approving something like this is an outrage and an attrocity. If you're not bothered by this prepare to be penned sheople, the dogs are coming.
It NOT the Americans that they need to worry about. We do NOT want invasive measures put on our lives. We do NOT want increased security against our own people. I'm the first person to say, "Let's roll." I'm more apt to rock, but same difference. I'm the least threat for a security breach.
We, as Americans want business as usual. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave. I'm NOT about to be held hostage by my own government for some supposed "safety." If you want to be wary of foreign nationals, be my guest, but do NOT turn MY country into Israel.
The Patriot Act should be declared unconstitutional. If you want to place the term foreign national in place of person then please do. But I was born here. My family was born here. My grandfather fought in WWII. My dad was in the Army. I pay my taxes and am (most of the time) proud to be an American; however, I rufuse to let my country be overrun with totalitarian tactics in the name of security.
We haven't sacrificed youn men in the name of freedom only to take it away from it's citizens.

First of all 90% of all studios are completely independent of any record label. It's the labels and the RIAA that is concerned with DRM. I'm not even sure the artists themselves care about DRM, they just want to be fairly compensated for their artwork.
what it will take for all of this to get resolved will be something similar to what Peter Gabriel is trying to develop. Perhaps a union of sorts to bring the labels to their knees. For the most part, other than distribution and PR the labels aren't needed for anything. If musicians learned to think and operate for themselves, this might be a moot point.
A wonderful example is Ani DiFranco. Whether you like her music is irrelevent. She's 100% self promoted, from albums to concerts. It's her production and her money and it's worked out very well.
I'm just waiting for an established giant to buck the system. When U2 or Aerosmith abandons their label and promotes their upcoming release via online distribution only (George Michael is doing this) the others will follow suit. Just hire a PR agency and collect a check, only a much larger one.
Obviously you were using a G3 based iBook, whereas the current generation employs the G4. There are also some other nice enhancements to the current stock. Panther should speed up your performance as well, if you haven't already installed it.
While they use the same processor, the iBook uses a 133MHz System Bus vs the PowerBook's 167MHz. There's a different graphics card in the PowerBook which also allows you to run dual displays, the iBook only has mirroring for video out. If those are things that you can live with, get the iBook.
Monitoring your every move. This is so that they can track those too poor to afford OnStar. Also a prelude to the implanted scanable chip for humans, for convenience and safety reasons of course. For those that doubt this, they're already beta testing these ID chips in pets, oh of course "just in case your pet gets lost." Anonymity needs to be a basic human right of existance. Granted I think you need a DL to drive etc, but to walk into a grocery store you shouldn't be scanned only your groceries.

First of all I won't download music illegal because I know way too many artists in the business.
Here's the truth about music and money. The typical contract signed by a band usually includes an advance. This isn't a signing bonus that they just get to keep. It's an advance on all future sales, minus all production and advertising costs, so in other words profit. Therefore if WB puts $2M into a project, it must gather that much in order to recover the costs. If you got $500K as an advance and only $1M was made from the effort, you are 100% responsible for paying that $500K back to WB!
Also, in 90% of the contracts signed by new bands, a three record deal is signed for the label. 100% of publishing rights from the first (usually the second as well) album goes to the label. Most bands don't survive the second album so it's usually a moot point.
So yes, $0.50 per disc means a lot to some of these bands. I personally think they should get a lot more, but the RIAA is in full support of the labels not the artist, but they still get something from our purchases.
Does ANYONE equate the Beatles with their failed subcompany Apple Corps? Does ANYONE confuse Apple Computer with Apple Corps? Why is this such an issue? The Beatles should concentrate more on trying to buy back the rights to their songs than this relentless worrying of what AAPL is doing. AAPL should just buy Sony and threaten the Beatles with their own songs. I'm the hugest Beatles fan, but I see this as about the money and not the art. What happened to "all you need is love," Paul?
I can't do that to myself. Yes, there are things that I thought could've improved with the two prequels, but I also go into these movies with the same eyes of the child that went to the first trilogy in the theater. I don't go looking for faults. I don't go looking for nitpicking details of a Trekker. I just want to enjoy myself and I have, so far. It's that fact that so many people have become jaded and have transmuted into the Comicbook guy.
I'm not buying an iPod until it supports OGG and AU and RA and WMA and MOD and SDII and 24-bit 96kHz files and has a built in sound module so it can play MIDI files and WRK and SF and any other esocteric file format that I can think of.
Get with it people, they can't support everything! Quit bitching and bite the bullet.
How often does a CD go platinum in a week? Even at the platinum level that only comes out to $100,000. Add in the cost of production etc, plus I don't know if you realize this, but any payments made to the artist are strictly on spec and if the artist doesn't provide the numbers to cover the costs they are financially responsible to the record company. Even at a super performance you're looking at maybe making a $1M. Not that much considering the hours put into the production, PR and video shoots. This is why tour support is so crucial and the only way money is made by said artist. Ever wonder why it costs $60 to see Nickelback? These numbers are typically spread out over time so up front payments are rare and it takes a while to cash in.
iTMS has tons of soundtracks. I don't know if video game soundtracks are included, but you are talking about a really niche market, same with your ambience stuff. As far as your country is concerned, that's more along the lines of your country's copyright policies that's impeding your ability to use the store. Everyone wants their cut so that's what's slowing it down. Look at Europe, they're only allowed to use the store in 3 countries. Last I checked they had more than that.
