    Actually it was much worse. I almost used right instead of write.

    Now then on to our next lesson, there is a difference between making a stupid joke and correcting people. For instance, stupid jokes may reference Giant Enemy Crabs while corrections often do not.

    Your point? Since the NT line does not ship with DOS, but a command interpreter, that the NT OS's run DOS programs is a very good indication of MS's backwards compatibility.

    I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones.

    Also from an interview Linus did:
    Linux wasn't initially planned to be an operating system. It was planned to be my personal project to learn about my computer, the CPU

    BSD was a free and open project before Linux and GNU existed. The term hero has become so diluted because it is thrown around at anybody someone has a fixation on.

    Oh, and Linux wasn't created with some grand altruistic project in mind, it was created because Linus wanted a Unix-like environment for his PC. He just gave it away after that thinking nothing would come of it.

    Seems perfectly obvious to me. VPN's between sites and you access data as if it was on the local network. What am I missing that makes this not an option, or for that matter why isn't this the way it's done already?

    You mean how consumers won't put up with everything that they put up with? Consumers in general will never care because for the most part they will never know.

    Have you ever watched people shop? They buy what appears to be a good deal they don't look into whether it is or not. Consumers in general are idiots, and I don't know where the idea that they aren't came from.
