Your PC is not the target market. Clusters, large datacenters and applications that require communications as close to instantaneous as possible are. $500 is a drop in the bucket with the potential of a huge payback for those installations
Not everything is about Slashdotters home computers.
What the hell good is a story if it does not give you a new perspective on your own existence/nature?
I believe that it's then called entertainment, and its the whole reason most people watch movies, read books and play games. Whenever some form of entertainment starts to try and make me get some 'new perspective,' I go to something else. If I wanted that I'd stick with real life, the rest of this is to get my mind off things, to be entertained and relax a little.
While its true that OS X will have little effect in general, it would be more competition for Linspire and Xandros that they are not really used to. Both of those target switchers from Windows who do not want to know what their computer is doing, and now OS X comes along targeting the same people with a well known name and with a system that is known for being easy to use.
If the Mac Mini did more damage to desktop Linux, imagine a cheaper version, with higher clock rates that can do everything a Linux desktop can, but has more software available to purchase for it, and of course has Office on it. Now if your average user only cares about 'how fast it is, what it can do, and how much it costs' and you see the Mac Mini doing damage, then what will one that hits all of the points that the average user cares about do to desktop Linux.
Thats why its a threat to Linux distros that target users.
Spelling mistakes on a resume are not a small thing, it's stupid to complain about it on Slashdot but not on a resume. You're attempting to make a good enough impression with a piece of paper so that someone who has never met you will consider wanting to know more. Presentation is everything.
Actually they did. The acting was pretty bad, especially Hammil, who was almost as wimpy and whiney as Christensen was. The difference between Eps 4-6 and 1-3 is that 4-6 were made to be a fun set of movies, but 1-3 were made to be blockbusters. Lucas set out to make world changing movies with terrible material and competing with movies which were fun to watch because they didn't take themselves seriously.
Also they tried to explain everything which before where just accepted (ie what makes a Jedi able to use the force) and added to a mystery that your imagination could fill in.
Really? Lets see this bug report then. I asked a question on misc@ as to why only the first of 3 le network cards was being detected. I included a dmesg and OpenBSD version and had a patch in half an hour.
I have trouble believing that you filed a complete report and got no response.
No its not. Large broadband base per capita, Canada still has a relatively small population, and only a fraction of them have broadband. I think you'll find the average Canadian broadband user is just as stupid as the average AOL-er, there's just less of them to zombify.
Since the NSA is a government organization, wouldn't the qualifier 'privately owned' mean that they weren't comparing Gene here to something they have?
It said first 1000 on the side at the front page, but then said first 5000 when I submitted my info, so I don't know. Either way it said I was getting it.
Don't bring facts into a xenophobic argument about visas and how the United States should shield its self from the evils of the rest of the world, which come in the form of foreign engineers and workers.
Real Words of a 7 year old regarding the original Star Wars: "This is stupid, I'm bored." You can't really make an article out of that so the writer tried to write something to convey the sense of stupidity and boredom that was expressed.
I agree, this isn't real in the sense that it isn't the thoughts of a 7 year old.

Mario is too hard, I've never even come close to beating it. Now 100h on Final Fantasy is something I can handle.
If it computes it could run Linux
If it computes it does run NetBSD. (of course)

There was a typo in your secret message, I'm not sure what to do.
Too many.
When 2.6 was released. It was pretty well publicized around here, have you been under a rock since 2.6.0?

No one wants to see a slashdotter in that position.
I've never seen free beer.

Well, assuming that applications written for Solaris will also work on OpenSolaris, that would be the reason you would use this over something else.
I wonder if Oracle 10g or 9i runs on OpenSolaris.

Its not their fault that you don't get it.
First I've heard of it. I only have time for one MMORPG, this won't be it.

Microsoft can charge whatever they want for their software.
