    He's still working on a good UI for his webserver. He hasn't got the 'Prevent Slashdotting' button looking quite right yet so the whole program is useless.

    Statements like "x make better y" when x and y have nothing to do with each other are stupid. You want to be a better lover, treat the person your with with kindness and be willing to put their wants, needs and aspirations ahead of your own. It has nothing to do with how fast you can compile a kernel.

    Yep, one day. All they have to do is change the motherboard to use an OpenFirmware nvram instead of an AT/ATX BIOS. Simple.

    I played FF3 for the first time last year. I had a lot of fun playing it and thought it was a good game. Like any good game, it will appeal to the same people 20 years ago as it will today, and will appeal to the same type of people in another 20 years.

    Or like a web browser thats integrated into the underlying OS that also acts as a help file renderer and file manager. I can't believe that no one has ever thought of this before! You know what would be totally cool? Having a bar along the side of your web browser that could go out and get headlines from your favorite news sources. Damn I'm brilliant, I'm going to be rich.

    Yes I do. I don't want a game that leaves me with, "What? Thats it?" when I get to the end of it. If I wanted something quick I'd watch TV or rent a movie.

    Whats the difference between LInux 2.6.1 and 2.6.11? They're the same 2.6 kernel arn't they? Thats the difference between 2K and XP at that level. Its like the difference between the latest Suse and the latest Fedora. Essencially its the same system, they just put different stuff on top.

    We have a long running series, the next release, while late, is still highly anticipated by fans, the last release is still played by hundreds of thousands of people around the world and it makes Square-Enix a ton of money.

    There is no 'Queen of Canada,' seprate from the rulling monarch of Britian. Allegence is sworn to the head of the Commonwealth which just happenes to be a Queen at the moment. As a member of the Commonwealth, Canada could not choose to recognize any other monarch as head over the head of state, in Canada its the Prime Minister, unless they removed themselves from the Commonwealth and instituted their own monarchy. The Monarch on the British thrown will always be head of the Commonwealth and subject to all British rules irregardless of the local laws of the member states.

    Of course they could make a 2k version, thats not the point they were making. The point is that 2k starts its EOL cycle in June and goes into extended support (security updates only). Why would they spend all this time back porting stuff from XPSP2 to an EOL product. Guess what, 98 isn't getting IE7 either, is that an anti-trust violation or simply because 98 is in EOL status?

    You begin learning addition in kindergarten or grade 1. By grade 4/5 you are still just adding numbers. I started multiplication in grade 4, in grade 9 you are still going through your multiplication tables. In grade 1 you are looking at and colouring plants, in grade 9 you are still just looking at plants and colouring pictures of them.

    Grades 1 through 9 could be compressed easily into 2 years of school, instead of wasting them by doing the same thing over and over and over again. Your probably right that a 12 year old kid still wouldn't have had the time to understand Nobel Prize winning work, but I shouldn't have had to wait till I was 17 before even having a brief introduction to calculus.

    Interesting way of looking at it since ISS BlackIce Personal Firewall and BlackIce Server Protection, both mentioned as vulnerable in each of the links I provided, are host based firewalls and as such have no firmware but drivers that hook into the underlying OS.
