I copied the dictionary definition to say that cesnorship is not just deletion, it is also supression. Just because its labelled as "Flamebait" or "off-topic" it's somewhat censored.

If you were standing on a soapbox ranting on something you believed in, then I'm sure a lot less people would listen to you if you had a sign around your neck saying "Don't listen to me, I'm flaming". Same idea.

The Rio can be a lot more legal since most people rip their *own* cd's into MP3s for their *own* usage. You usually don't get MP3s from others because you own the cd -- unless your CD-ROM can't rip MP3s, you make your MP3s yourself.

Trading MP3s is a different thing altogether.

I understand that MP3s are not intrinsically illegal, but I would venture to say that 90% or more of MP3s are illegally obtained. The people behind Napster most probably know this. That was my argument. BTW, all my friends (but *cough* not me) use the file transfer feature of ICQ to transmit warez as well as MP3s.

Prodigy isn't responsible for defamatory material sent over its network. That's a good thing (tm), since it wasn't designed for the transmission of defamatory material. Napster, on the other hand, is designed for illegal MP3 distribution. There's a big difference -- just my take.. (Not to say I want the RIAA to win, quite the opposite).
