I was thinking along the same lines. This probably has less to do with China pissing off the west and more to do with the further isolation of its people.
I find it ironic that the fastest developing nation in the world is shunning the economic powerhouse that is the internet - it seems like suicide to me. Is China bluffing or do they really plan to shoot themselves in their own foot?
Absolutely - and to be honest, I didn't think of that scenario until you brought it up. But, yes, those types of infections could (and probably would) be worse than just getting your phone destroyed.
Honestly, I'm all for AV Scanners for phones, but only if the vendors are willing to do some serious R&D before they bring a product to market. The software would have to be transparent (ie, I don't want to see it unless there's a problem), use up minimal battery life, and not place any restrictions on what I can or cannot do with my phone.
Now, one possible weakness I see in this is that not all phones are created equal. Different manufacturers use different software, which means that creating a single AV solution for all phones is probably out of the question - perhaps the responsibility of creating these applications should lie with cell phone manufacturers instead of the usual suspects (Symantec, McAfee, etc.)?

I won't pretend to know anything about Cell Phone security or architecture, but it would seem to me that with the recent influx of so-called "Smart Phones" that run J2ME Apps and support web browsers are inherently less secure than your standard cell phone. A cunning programmer could easily exploit holes in your phone's browser to run a J2ME app that completely and utterly destroys your phone.
Now, that's purely speculation, but that's one possible way I could see your phone getting infected.

NO! Release a game when it's ready, not when the people want it. Too often, developers are pushing titles out because it's what the public wants right then and now; no more are the days when developers actually released games when they were ready for public consumption. If more developers stick to the "It will come out when it's ready" mantra, we'd have less crap on the market for games these days.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't it been ruled that BitTorrent is not liable for any illegal purposes it might be used in (ie, Copyright Infringement)? If that's the case, wouldn't BitTorrent be clear of fault?
I just love how everyone looks past every possible legal use of BitTorrent and just assumes that it is the greater evil in the world of IP.
I love the features of TB, but I was really turned off by the theme they were using for it. If it has new and improved graphics and design, the experience will be complete.
