... why governments don't just ban the sale of old fashioned incandescent style bulbs, or at the very least whack a huge 1000% tax on the damn things. Does anyone know why they won't do this?
Because we (myself and parent poster, although we're probably in different countries) don't live under completely authoritarian regimes, yet. I've got a 200 Watt incandescent bulb in my room. And before you go "save the earth" on my ass... go drive a Prius off a fucking cliff! It provides a lot of pleasant, warm light, and requires minimal initial investment. I turn it on only when I really need the light, so it would take a looong time to pay off.
when they come out with the 120GB version. Wireless is nice, but it has less space than my Nomad! No really, that's half the space my Zen has. They need at least a 60gb model, even Apple has one, but then most people with the current 60gb players won't want to change.
I realize very well that everything is worth only what people are willing to pay for it, however, I don't see how it undermines my original statement (it was mainly a joke, btw), I still think it's a better deal. Exhibit A.Exhibit B. Sorry I couldn't find some pretty graphs for both of them.
In the apocalypse scenario, my checklist would look like this:
Diesel fuel
Diesel power generator
Computer, laptop
Food (could be combined with abouve, there's food in my keyboard)
Ammo
Hmm, maybe it shouldn't be an ordered list, or at least not in this order...

So, what is this about again? You, as a subscriber, obviously had a head start on the article, but I'm not sure you actually read it. Where does it (the article) criticize the soldiers? It does mention a few people who do mention a few downsides to the whole gadget situation, but that's about it. Otherwise it simply describes the situation in the Iraq/Afghanistan bases.
Not really. I've had a 60 gig Nomad Zen for about two years now, I laugh at (anyone with) the 30 gigs players. The wireless and its brand get it some points over the ipod, though.
Damn you and your WinRAR! When is the deadline? WinRK says it needs 3 days 14 hours, you might be finished before then, but I'll surely take the prize... when it's done®
My first comment wasn't completely serial^H^Hous, but such replies are to be expected when you don't make it clear with a ":-)".
Yes, the exclamation point isn't the easiest thing to see on the slashdot homepage, but neither is trying to parse the all lowercase word without any spaces or underscores. notfud is by now one of the standard tags, but if the tag was trying to say that the article is not a book review, I'd prefer !bookreview over notbookreview or notabookreview.
>and so far one legitimate, serious attack has been prevented.
So far, no one's been charged or convicted in this case. Who knows, maybe they were just discussing their trip to Disneyland. They were supposedly going to use a soft drink bottle for explosives, so a couple of plastic bottles and a camera is probably the only evidence there is.
He wasn't really the first one to ignore it, but he made the idea that the constitution is "just a goddamned piece of paper!" popular.
No. Did you just immigrate from the Soviet Union? They'll replace the regular bulbs soon enough, if they're so good.

Well, I did RTFA, and can say that, thanks FSM, it doesn't use iTunes. Yet it's as simple as moving a directory. Your head asplode.

>Plenty of people are willing to pay for pieces of paper saying they own some gold
Still a better deal than the green pieces of paper not even saying that!
>I saw a 5-port gigabit switch at a retailer yesterday for under $12/port.
That's still pretty damn expensive, considering that there are (admittedly rather shitty) 100MB switches for $2.5 (8 ports) to $3 (3 ports) per port.
Of course, it's relatively cheap if you need to move a lot of data often, so it's more of a time=money equation.
Duke Nukem!
Best. Character. Evar.
Do not try and get the joke. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
There is no joke.

/me points
Ha! Ha!
Considering you have to pay Apple extra for the privilege of having a black device, MS might be on to something.

Fox News have been able to do that for years.

Excellent! V would be pround.
I'm surprised no one has yet posted this: Slackware Linux Poster
I'll be happy with simply this:
MySpace users sent to Guantanamo.
>I guess that ruins things for www.justfu**inggoogleit.com?
For what?? I don't think wildcards are valid or supported in URIs.

Is that how long it takes to emerge kde on your system?
Damn, this pisses me off. The correct tag is "!fud", RTFM.
I tagged the article "yes"
