Smash Bros Brawl Creators Hint at Sonic

Wowzer writes "Nintendo hopes that Solid Snake's appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii will encourage other publishers to allow their characters to join the Smash Bros. line-up, and is already actively negotiating for the rights to include at least one or two other non-Nintendo character. The plot thickens when Smash Bros. series director Masahiro Sakurai and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto say that 'Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog is the character that Smash Bros. fans have requested the most.' This begs the question, which non-Nintendo characters are most likely to appear?"

At this point, Sonic probably has a better chance of making it in then, say, Zelda (who I really hope stays, as well). So I wish we would drop it already. He's going to be in, period, whether you like him or not (I'm kinda indifferent, though I think he does fit in wonderfully with the franchise).

They're not going to announce his inclusion until just before the game is released, you can count on that... because it's quite possibly the hottest debate out of ANY regarding the makeup of Nintendos soon to be released games, and announcing him will kill the suspense for Brawl.

I just hope they don't include TOO many new characters, and aren't afraid of getting rid of some old ones (trading out characters like Pichu, Mewtwo, Marth, Roy, and Falco and giving other characters in their respective series a chance), or the game will likely become unbalanced.

    According to the Wikipedia:

In logic, begging the question is the term for a type of fallacy occurring in deductive reasoning in which the proposition to be proved is assumed implicitly or explicitly in one of the premises. For an example of this, consider the following argument: "Only an untrustworthy person would run for office. The fact that politicians are untrustworthy is proof of this." Such an argument is fallacious, because it relies upon its own propositionin this case, "politicians are untrustworthy"in order to support its central premise. Essentially, the argument assumes that its central point is already proven, and uses this in support of itself. ...

More recently, "begs the question" has been used as a synonym for "invites the question" or "raises the question", or to indicate that "the question really ought to be addressed". In this usage, "the question" is stated in the next phrase. The following is an example: "This year's budget deficit is half a trillion dollars. This begs the question: how are we ever going to balance the budget?" This usage is often sharply criticized by proponents of the traditional meaning, but it has nonetheless come into common use.
