...he would be arrested for violation of his LIFE LONG NDA you sign when you take a job with the The FBI.
Never heard anything about that from my FBI friend. Not that we discussed it in detail, but I think he would have mentioned it. The FBI is an investigative law enforcement kind of outfit. Not saying they aren't spooks per se, but the officially aren't. They wouldn't really have anything to sign an NDA for as a matter of normal employment. Unless they were like the Freemasons; filled with ancient secrets about nothing in particular.
Ignoring the millions given to charities around the world by nearly all wealthy individuals and organizations it sounds.to me like you may have a case of sour grapes. Yes, it would be great if you could come up with a great idea and profit from it, but you can't, so you want to throw the baby out with the bath water and let the state take care of everyone. Like it's never been tried before.
The point is actually that you can give encrypted data, say, some of your company's vital statistics, to an outsider (for example, a consulting agency); that agency can do a computation on that encrypted data (say, their super-secret algorithm that analyzes your company and tells you how to get rich fast) and get an encrypted result, which it then gives back to you. Only you can then decrypt the result.
1) You have a bunch of encrpyted data. 2) A third party wants the results of a operation on your data. 3) You're too busy to be bothered with it so you say to a middle man "Wave this magic wand over my data and give me the results." 4) You decrpyt those results and send them to the third party. This will open up a completely new business model; the "data broker", a sort of clearing house or processor of encrypted data that the owning company can safely pass off to these middle men without comprimising the data.
Me thinks the man doth have the taste of Sour Grapes in his gullet. But hey, I'm not so big on tablets my self. But you know who is? Non-techies. My wife loves her tablet. LOVES IT. Takes it with her whever she goes. I absolutely cannot do my work on my tablet, I always pull out my ultra when I want to do development. But as a mass-market gadget, the tablet seems to be a big hit. Five years from now? Dunno, probably. 10 years? Hell, who knows? Maybe we'll be using empty air as an interface to our smart phones to pull up data on a 3d projection in that air. Maybe people will get in to being wet wired (William Gibson, anyone?) and jack their data directly into their brains. Wtf.
The shining endorsement is by a people who also believe in sympathetic magic and possession by evil spirits. Of course the bomb detectors work; you just have to activate them by burning insense in a slot on the side of the detector and appealing to "J'mbibwe", god of bombs and bush babies.
When you come out of grad school owing 50K+ I wonder how cheap you'll be willing to work for. These H1B's, when they come over, I wonder how much in loans they owe? Does the Indian Government subsidize their sh*t? If so... well, there's yer problem.
I'm in complete agreement with you. Interestingly however, in my experience the zero training aspect is a myth. The H1B people often require more training, exacerbated because they often speak little english.
Linux DOES have a good file system. As xkcd says; it has 15 of 'em. This is one of the highlights of Linux, you can use any fs available. The bad side is simply many of them are old, a few are too new, and most don't have ALL the features enterprise's need. This is a good thing though. When Apple or Microsoft delcare a critical system infrastructure feature complete, and its not for you, what is your recourse? At least with Linux if something new is really needed it can be added. The possibility is there.
No, you're right. The mainstream is just copying press releases from other outlets. Its rediculous. And CBS is wondering why CBS News is not getting those ratings of old... its not the CBS News of old. Just the other day I read the New York Post back peddling on some tech article. Whatever.
So far, not so good...

Name one society that band competition in all forms and has flourished. One.
much less one armed and hostile to the expansion of North Korean power.
So the proper attitude in your opinion is to welcome the DPRK's prison camps?
So "plugging in cables" requires a degree now?
He's some kind of marketing guy/girl or something, and he's working with visio or its ilk. Their "code" is a business process. Move along.

Breach of license, etc...?

Or make it so banal, stupid, tasteless or non-sequitur no one will want to rip it off. Oh, mission accomplished.
I can live with the name, but I thought "Caleo" was a nie choice as well. "Caleo" is "flame" in latin.
we paid for it so they can advertise?
You'd rather the ship stayed in port forever just so Lockheed -Martin doesn't get the free advertising?
It's very much tolerated in ebooks, though.
Maybe. Not by me though.
Yeah, I read a story about that a few years ago. Pretty goddamn horrific and medieval fookin' schyte, that lot.
I get how China is able to do it, trade surplus with the WORLD. They can pay for every Chinese national to go to higher education. I guess.

You're job you have is most likely average, by definition.
Your English is less than average, by example. You just said "You are job have is most likely..."
No wonder companies don't want to hire natives.

They want people who do the job with 0 training.

Actually I'm being serious. This is why I come to /.
Its the nrg. The point of origin can be norrowed down by eliminating sources that don't have that amount of nrg. Simple.

My last startup up was destroyed by Craigslist.
What, the guy was charging for want ads?
