lol social security is a complete failure along with medicare and medicaid. The U.S. is bankrupt, the music hasn't stopped yet but it will in do course.
Mod this down please, this is completely retarded. Do you really think corporations are going to grope grandmothers, senators, and people with colonoscopy bags if there is a profit motive involved? If a private security firm is doing a bad job, there is recourse by customers to boycott them or choose a different provider. There is NO recourse with the TSA. A private firm will also more than likely have actual hiring standards.
On the flip side, all you need is a bin you can fit in with this stuff and you'll never have to dress yourself! Just hope the sand doesn't lose form in public.
Typical retarded arguments. First off all many Arab nations and people question the existence of Israel, that doesn't mean they want to nuke the entire country and kill all of its citizens, it just means they don't recognize Israel as a legitimate state. Kind of like the U.S. doesn't really recognize Palestine as a legitimate state.
Second of all, even if Iran got the nuke, do you really think they are going to start lobbing nukes into Tel Aviv? Their entire military and leadership would be annihilated in a day and a U.S. puppet government would be installed. North Korea has arguably the most fucked up regime in the entire world and even they're not stupid enough to start nuking Seoul because the Korean war "never ended".
Third of all, the only country that's every actually nuked anyone is the United States and they had arguably already won WWII.
Fourth of all, Iran's actually signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty while Israel hasn't. You can argue they're violating it but it's clearly pure hypocrisy.
I could go on and on with more points.... People need to stop buying into neo-con propaganda at face value and do a little critical thinking. This whole thing reminds me of the Iraq war all over again.
I'm a native born white Canadian living in one of the most multicultural cities in the world and I can't stand the CRTC. Living here for 25+ years, I don't even know what Canadian culture is, let alone why we need a bureaucracy to defend it. The only people the CRTC are serving are hacky television writers whose shows get put on CBC and cancelled a year later. They are completely out of touch with reality and need to go.
Obama isn't a dictator? I bet the friends and relatives of this guy would see things differently. And no I'm not defending him in any way, he was definitely a bad guy. It's truly saddening that Obama supporters are now drinking the "9/11 changed everything" Kool Aid.
If a large fraction of the value of gold was based on it's technical uses, the gold price should be more stable IMHO.
My understanding is that the opposite is actually true. Silver for example has a lot more industrial uses than gold but the market is much more volatile. Admittedly part of the reason is that the silver market is much smaller than the gold market, but another major part has to do with the business cycle.
For example, if there is a huge economic downturn, silver will get hit harder since industrial demand will drop as the economy contracts (i.e. less people buying audio wires). Since there is little industrial gold demand, the price will actually be more stable.
You can currently hook up a tablet to your laptop as a second monitor. My understanding is that depending on the software your using though, it can be a bit laggy. It would be nice if someone decided to design a tablet specifically for use in conjunction with a laptop.
Does anyone know what the best laptop/tablet solution is?
From my understanding, programmers making 300 - 400 thousand in the financial industry are typically quantitative analysts or financial engineers with masters degrees or Phds in these fields. Their primary duties are things like modeling complicated financial scenarios or finding statistical anomalies to exploit in high frequency trading. Yes they code their strategies but I don't know if I'd put them in the same category as your typical programmer.
This is why I think we may see Apple (even Google) move into the console gaming market.
Apple probably won't create a console with bleeding edge hardware to compete with Sony and Microsoft, but what I do see them doing is throwing in decent 3d graphics capabilities into an AppleTV or something similar, and potentially competing with the Wii.
I think with Apples app distribution network, it's too good of an opportunity to pass up.
And as a side note, look at Gamespot.com. They already have a section for iPhone games.
High frequency traders argue that they provide liquidity to the markets. They'll also throw out terms like "Price Discovery".
This basically means that they make it easier for everyone else to buy/sell positions at the right price. Whether or not they're full of crap I don't know.
IANAL but the U.S. has a court system that can enforce criminal negligence. If Walmart starts selling exploding landmine toys, they can be sued for putting people in danger.
Additionally, parents should do the due diligence of investigating the safety of toys before buying them. Do we really need a giant bureaucracy funded by tax payers to literally go through every product sold in the U.S. and go through a rigorous safety inspection? Do you have any idea how much that would cost?
Why not just let private safety rating agencies do the job? Or how about buy only American toys made locally?
Finally, there's always going to be ignorant parents that don't do their homework. What ever happened to the idea that having kids is a RESPONSIBILITY. Well, be responsible and don't buy cheap Chinese toys from Walmart.
America had a choice,,, Ron Paul. The sad part is that the 2012 election will once again reign in "change" in the form of a Republican "conservative". Both parties are bought and paid for with the exception of a few individuals. Wake up people!
Agreed. People need to stop gawking at how many medals he's winning. They represent winning events that vary little in terms of training and skill. Now if somebody won a gold in cycling and long distance running, THAT would be a real accomplishment.
Inflation doesn't mean their wages are necessarily going to go up. The government cooks the books on things like CPI so it doesn't have to meet social security obligations (among other reasons). Inflation kills the middle class by increasing the price of oil, food, and other necessary products. Inflation helps the rich because they are the ones getting the money initially when it still has its value.
What are your thoughts on the sinking dollar and the price of gold? Do you support the abolishment of the federal reserve and a return to a hard currency?
Why was this modded insightful? A calculator saves you LOTS of time. This device doesn't save you any time (except the shipping time of the book). You still have to READ THE BOOK!
First of all drugs have to be approved for sale. In addition, I highly doubt your doctor/pharmacist is legally allowed to lie to you as to the purchase you're making. If you get your brakes fixed and they fail dramatically you can probably sue. Meat also needs to be inspected and labeled properly. So I don't quite see your point.
Also, if I am buying drugs, getting my brakes replaced, or buying meat, I do so from a reputable store, not some cheap discount crap store.
Paul would get rid of FEMA as its clearly a bureaucratic crap shoot of inefficiency. He would also get rid of homeland security, department of education, downsize the CIA etc... California's economy is among the biggest in the world. They can fend for themselves. They shouldn't have to wait for lumbering dumbasses from FEMA to get things straightened away. States should have a lot more power and responsibility for these kinds of things.
While you may not agree with all of Paul's ideas, his economic and foreign policy are second to none out of any candidate in both parties.
And stop calling Paul supporters spammers. There is a reason they are so enthusiastic.

Uhh, they weren't talking about full gingers, they were talking about day-walkers. Get your facts straight.

Exactly... Economics is a social science, not a hard science.

write an op-ed piece in China about how their standards are too lax. FU Microsoft.

If people are too stupid not to know the difference they deserve to be ripped off. Must we protect the public from every stupid thing they do?
