    Linux is being developed by a plethora of developers, very few of them being chinese but doubt if they reside in Mainland. This regulation would mean that Linux should also be counted out. Way to go now a third OS that would be competing for our mindshare. But you need learn chinese to understand the source code !!

    Marketing and Business processes were the two major contributions (ok not an invention - happy now). See HBR and BA&H series on Taylor, Ford et. all since 1870s. You can invent all the products you want but unless they are well marketed - case point Xerox and Microsoft. One was an innovator and the other was a marketing machine. You know who succeded.

    Or stick with what microsoft provides you. Use Microsoft's DFS technology. Map a DFS drive on all your desktops to say something like

    C:\Program Files\Server Apps\latest\OO or
    C:\Program Files\Server Apps\latest\Mozilla

    and map the shortcut to the relevant location.

    DFS does things similar to NFS but as usual you need to be an all M$ shop which you already are.

    My phone running different hardware - Ew !! Can I upgrade - No buy a new one.

    See the difference. Besides - no killer app. Dont say M$Office on 320x240 please.

    But a WiMax enabled phones may change my attitude. Nah I dont think so. I will buy a simple PocketPC with a WiMax card.

    True but all costing more than $1000. Commodity PC by dictating standards. Let the marketforces fight and die for hardware share. I generate revenue thru software sales and that is my monopoly. Thats what made them a visionary. A marketing success.

    You are the designer is what Advaita says !!

    Thats why the Advaita philosophy (note - not hinduism) calls this creation a Maya - an illusion. According to that philosophy (you would better understand it when you die I guess !!) all this creation is maya because this creation is the belief of the perceiver. Sounds vague right ? Yes it is.
    Change your perception, like wearing red tinted glasses and everything is red now. Scientifically you can explain it all but you do that only because you know otherwise. But what if you didnt know. (remember the farmers - steam engine story - invisible horses inside the steam engine.)

    I use Microsoft products (sorry for myself). Anytime I need to search stuff on MSDN, I go to google and do the same (put an MSDN in my criteria). The results are faster, accurate and easy to view than Microsoft's own website.

    US ?? A rich country ? Face it - anything you need to buy abroad you need dollars. The US needs to do the same too. But the US alone can print dollars. So that makes the US a rich country.

    How nice it would be if I got a Knoppix from Dell or IBM with all the drivers (binary is fine) preinstalled along with my laptop. Load the Window$ crap by default paying the M$ tax but I can atleast switch to Linux without having to hunt for drivers !!

    Besides I would have a default recovery disk.

    Imagine how their support costs would plument when the user connects to the internet without a firewall !! Insert that Knoppix disk that came with you package and delete the following file '/mnt/.../Gator/*'.

    Here is a 3rd world govt that implemented IT in every facet of its operations. Corruption was part of the deal but committment was paramount. The end result is a happy citizen. Netcraft links this as an Apache on Linux site. It would be prudent for Brazilian planners to learn from the experiences of the AP implementers.
