    Pretty soon we will succumb and give up our agrarian rights too - thanks to WTO
    ok start flaming me.

    We the investor (care about our 401(k) invest for growth all the time - who cares what the company does)
    -> Stock Market (invest for return, short term is OK. Do whatever it takes)
    -> Analyst (Squeeze the CEO. Show him the benefits of success and the perils of failure. Somebody is going to screw the company anyway)
    -> CEO (screw nationalism make more money for next quarter. Enjoy the options my ticket to glory)
    -> his goons (outsource everything and focus on sales. Keep the boss happy or get replaced)
    -> Govt (Keep this chain happy) !!
    -> We the employee/investor (the whiner)
    -> educational institutions and business schools (teach what sells. rationalize this idea, for better funding and enrollment)

    Somehow, when the fault is with the average US public, how easily we keep blaming the Govt. For starters when was the last time you invested in a socially concious fund. When did you see a balance sheet where the company's social impact and it as a national resource, taken into consideration.

    And a conversion project to modify all cars on US roads will will cost $85.3 billion dollars, resulting in employment opportunities to 2.5 million. In addition this would result in production changes to all car manufacturing process adding an additional cost of $8 billion. But this would result in adding an addition $115 billion dollars to the Peltier chip manufacturing and support industries.

    Now if we can only find somebody to lobby . . .

    Dude, MVS had huge changes since its advent - But it is backward compatible - thats all. Today's Z/Os is built with Java in mind and MVS is a subsystem in it !!

    As for VM, IBM had a functional VM operating system when half of /. crowd was in diaper (well the 3rd wrld /. crowd was free-er).

    Doctors make a lot of money. Pharma and insurance companies make even more. It's practically all profit: the costs of running a doctor's practice are large only when counting their insurance, which is of course driven up by the supply/demand crisis. . You forgot Lawyers. They are the fourth pillar in this chac-ching contraption. By their very existence they bring in the unforeseen threat factor.

    Yall know that microsoft is building its dotnet platform with an MSIL (intermediate language) that is completely portable with a JIT in the middle - right.

    Doesnt take that company too long to build a JIT for Power or CELL. They too have plans to get rid of this x86 reliance.
