Karate can be helpful, but not for everyone.
I am currently in the same situation, however, I am lucky enough to go to a large school where I can literally become invisible to avoid teasing/bullying. I haven't been picked on since middle school.
The only classes I'm really comfortable in are my technology classes (and I'm a girl - it's hard to fit here too!), so I've made my extracurricular fit me. My high school has a FIRST robotics team. It's great - everyone works super hard to uild and design a robot in 6 weeks, then we get to go to Regionals and some people get to go to Nationals! For someone who may be uninterested in sports or other activities, this could allow him to be with other people that share his interests. The competitions are great! It's like a rock concert, literally, with out the drinking and fights and for geeks.
Even if he's not so interested in robots, as I am not (but am more interested now after 2 years), there are other things you can do. The robot is programmed in C and there's a seperate smaller competition for a 3D animation built with 3D Studio Max.
I have to say, this is the best experience of high school so far. I don't quite fit at school yet, but I've made friends that might pick on me for being nerdy, but I can pick on them back:-P
Tons of bands give away free mp3s. If not just a handful to sample the album or maybe they give away the whole album. This is for publicity.
If they want to stand out, they have to be original in how they stick it to The Man. ((The Man, in this case being whatever music association they have))
It doesn't matter that what they're doing is less effective - it just matters that it's a new idea or new way of doing something that gives them the attention they want. Maybe they're looking for American sales now and know how much the kids hate the RIAA now.
Plus, um, their record label had to approve of it...it's not like they're actually fighting against the record labels - I don't know if ZYX Music is independent or what...I don't know German record labels:-/
Okay, people keep repeating the "Kelvin degrees are different from Celsius or Farenheit" thing. Okay, a 12 degree difference in Celsius is exactly the same as a 12 degree difference in Kelvin. K = degrees C + 273 So that -273 degrees C is equal to 0 kelvin. What I don't understand is why they are using Kelvin anyway. Kelvin is usually used for extremely cold stuff, not extremely hot stuff. The point of Kelvin was to be able to deal with temperatures as cold as absolute zero (( 0 kelvin )) without negative or complicated numbers. Maybe they want the heat to seem more impressive? Or perhaps they like to make silly slashdotters think kelvin is extremely different....
Now, I haven't played THUG yet, but I know THPS4 ((and probably the other THPSs)) had all the board companies and Nokia billboards and stuff. I think the billboards don't intrude on the game in anyway. I certainly notice them, which is what they're going for, but I don't think they're bad as long as they stay in the background or the game and don't impede on or control the entire level's look and feel ((as it sounds with the volley ball game and a Pringles setting...??)).
I think the games that have some fake advertisements mixed in add a little laugh. GTA advertisements are cool and I think it was Aggressive Inline that had a billboard for....was it a man bra? Slightly amusing for those who caught it. ((Someone want to confirm or correct that?))
