Do you pronounce that "Mac OS Ex" or "Mac OS Ten"?
Most people I know use the former, but the latter also makes sense...
Steve Jobs pronounces it "ten", and that's supposed to be the "right" way of pronouncing it. But myself, and everyone I know uses the "X" pronunciation. It's just too confusing to spell something in one way, and to say it in another.
Intrestingly, if you use the Text-to-Speech feature of OS X, and let it speak "Mac OS X", it actually says "Mac OS 10".:-)
Does this work on other platforms, such as Linux and Mac OS X? I mean the code running procedure, not infecting IE. I know I have seen, while using Safari, a java dialog asking me whether to run a untrusted program or not...
Most people don't understand that it's the web sites that opens popups. They think popups just appear suddenly. And it's not that strange - they DO often do open randomly, due to ad-ware.
Many people have also "accepted" popups. They think it's fair - they're getting a good intarweb service, so maybe it's worth the hassle dealing with popups.
In August of last year, I made this demo, which shows how to easily popup a full-size page. This is done by submitting a form on onLoad, which targets a new frame. Works in Safari, but not in Firefox.
I recently bought an iMac G5, with Apple's Wireless Mouse & Keyboard. The mouse indeed has a delay, which was very annoying for a while. However, after about a day, I didn't notice the delay anymore. There is still some loss of precision, but it's not something I notice anymore.
Having just one mouse button is never great, but what's bothering me is the lack of a scrolling wheel. Having a second mouse button isn't very important in OS X (IMHO).
But I must say I am more satisfied with the wireless keyboard. The buttons are better and easier to press than those on the older Pro Keyboard. There is no delay on the keypresses (that that be noticed).
Overall, except for the mouse delay and the obvious no-scrollwheel problem, both devices are great. They feel good, work well, and the Bluetooth connection is solid. Actually, I found the wireless range of these products to be much longer than Apple claims.:-)
Hah, I like the way Gates tries to avoid answering some questions by speaking around them...
SPIEGEL: But your small competitor Apple, for example, is much less frequently a victim of virus attacks...
Gates:... put so sweepingly, that is not correct. Of course we are the largest target, simply because we have the most widely disseminated system. But it affects others in exactly the same way. Linux is, in many respects, even more significantly affected.
Clicking most of the Britney pictures from celebritypicturesarchive.com displays a completely different picture than the one you clicked (still a picture of britney, though).
Someone should make an ActiveX program (correct term?) that downloads and installs Firefox. Also, it could redirect any IE shortcuts to FF. Put it on a popular web site, and watch as Firefox' marketshare explodes!:-D
iPod only reads from the hard drive a short moment, loading several songs into memory, and then spinning down the hard drive again while playing for 20 minutes. iPod works great for most activities.
When two mother boards fall in love and get married, a new board is produced.
:-)
Yeah, but that would be a daughterboard, right?

When you have 95% market share YOU ARE THE STANDARD.
:-)
No, you are the de-facto standard.

First post. Yay. Roland sucks >:-(
Why is this a troll? Gotta love Slashdot...

No, I mean to imply I have root access to their servers, and they're indeed going to collapse, from the inside and out.

Haha, they're going down! No wait... root? This can't be Microsoft's server, it's UNIX? Uh-oh... no... NOO!
[Connection lost]
"The faint smell of root" :-D
Well, mice other than Apple's generally have longer cords. Trying to connect a wired Apple mouse directly to a computer would be impossible. :-)
You are supposed to plug them into the computer directly! Yes, I know, it sort of sucks. :-)
Apple has always had this, not only with USB, but also in the olden days with ADB, on the first Mac, which is great.

The 8 year old wouldn't know what any of these are. So what's your point?

I think we've seen that before!
Safari has support for XMLHTTPRequest since version 1.2.
Speeding is dangerous, and can kill you, and others. Watching goatse isn't dangerous. Not physically, anyway.
Will this feature be made default for Google.com sometime in the future, or will it remain as an alternative?
