  9. ReFS. The arrogance of Microsoft is astounding to think there will never be problems with ReFS. Apparently there isn't a chkdsk command for the file system. In the event of a dirty shutdown, the file system would repair should data need to be read from that block. So, assuming a VM of Windows threw a BSOD, and it was hosting a share of data on a ReFS volume, it could be days, weeks, YEARS before it ostensibly got around to making repairs. So, how in the hell does that work out for file level restoration when backing up a running VM at the block level?

Because they are! Believe it not, the primary role of helpdesk isn't to solve the issue, rather define the scope of problem as front-line triage so it can then go to a specialist . Let me repeat that. Solving an issue is important, but not as important in at least sleuthing out the actual nature of the issue. Server, Network, and Security groups are not responsible for front-line call taking. They have more important matters to attend to.

*sigh*. Let me just say I've been doing helpdesk, server, and networking support for well over 20 years now. I will share with you some golden advice to teach any new helpdesk new hire. It's not technical, it's a frame of mind. Technical knowledge can be learned, but starting off with the right mindset pays off long-term!!

    1. When an end user has a problem, it should always be assumed to be a perceived problem, and not the actual issue at hand. Sometimes you get luck and are talking with someone that knows how to communicate well; but always assume at first it's just perceived.

    2. After making a determination as to where the problem actually is from the POV of the end-user, the next step involves defining the scope of the issue. This part is IMPORTANT. Having someone say "the network is down" doesn't mean jack shit if all others in the office are function just fine. It is imperative that the technician understand where the problem begin, and ends. Divide and conquer the scope until you have a definitive range to work with. It could be a switch, the desktop computer, or just isolated to that one users local profile.

    3. After establishing the scope of problem, you now know what other departments this may or may not encompass. From this standpoint, you can execute against the problem with available resources.

Or is it? It actually might be there job. First priority is to handle security. Any time left over they pick up the ticket list and knock out any outstanding helpdesk tickets on file.

But, the human race has yet to figure out how to create new elements and/or convert lots of energy into mass, specifically the element Au.

The only problem with PMs is that they're heavy and not liquid in electronic form. But basing fiat to a Gold standard does prevent inflation. IE, it keeps government spending in check. THAT is why we are off the Gold standard to this day, regardless of the fact getting off it it helped with international commerce. Even Alan Greenspan voiced his regret to that effect. Turbocharging is an efficient form of power gain as the turbo captures the exhaust back pressure. It's not that the engine now has to work harder to push out the exhaust, rather, it's the pressure being instantly released once the exhaust valve cracks open.

Superchargers (belt driven blowers) are far more simplistic and trouble free (with exception of normal wear). The problem with a blower is that it's parasitic. It takes power to deliver more power in return. So, they render less MPG when in use (under load).

Last I checked, the Shanghai Maglev was German technology. But other than that, yes, anytime you empower a nation to build because they're the lowest cost supplier that can actually do the job in numbers, you will get an economic boom there. Eventually they become self-sufficient where they too start competing in high tech industries with the rest of the developed world. So the transition from a developing nation to one that is developed is a natural progression. It happened with the Roman Empire, spanning to Europe, across the Atlantic to the America, now back to China, and soon Africa. Now, it's important to note that having a functional government is key here. Pure anarchy and pure totalitarianism are far too extreme to be conducive to mass economic output.
