I used to use Winamp back when I was running on a P-75 laptop and I loved the experience. It allowed me to do things that I could not do elsewhere at the time.
However, I do not believe that I need to pay for a program to rip CDs as CD quality when there are free alternatives out there. That is when they started to lose me. Also, since I own an iPod and an iBook now, winamp doesn't met my needs of transfering music between the two.
I think though that most people tend to use iTunes or even WMP over winamp is because the experience is better. It is easier, it allows them access to music instantly (iTunes Store or whatever MS is calling theirs). Most people unfortunately don't give a flying flip about DRM, they just want their music. iTunes and WMP seem to do this for them.
AvP is a big franchise if you looked. The stories were intertwined in books, comics and video games. So why in the world would they not make a movie that the fans have been asking for?
The only dissappointment about the movie I've seen from the previews is that they set in modern timeline instead of the timeline of the novels and games.
You have to take the first part of your sentence, "In Rhode Island" and then put the rest of the statement into proper context.
It is kind of like saying, "In Texas, a bunch of citizens shot a drunk driver dead when he killed someone and the highest court in TX gave them a reward for saving them the trouble of handling the case."
I am no Mac expert, but I believe that is because the Mac is different than Windows in that it will use all available resources to speed up the program. The more resources it can use, the more the OS loads into Memory and Virtual Memory. This is partially why the OS can appear snappy on slower processors (such as my G3 700).
When I first got my iBook I only had 256 MB RAM and can vouch that Firefox ran fine on it, as it does not that I have maxed my memory out of 640 MB.
The only browser I have had a problem with when it comes to internet banking is Safari. It refuses to properly switch over to my internet bill pay company from my account. So I have to take the time to switch over to Firefox before doing any banking. Small pain, but it is better than being forced to use a version of IE that is no longer being worked on (that is if you can call what they did before work).
Over all my general rule is that if it cannot support the browser I want to use then they do not want my business or readership.
She probably later decided to take it one step further and changed her homepage to a static page called thanks.htm that thanks the idiot for releasing the "W32.YouWillBeFired.Z" virus into the corporate network.
There is nothing like freaking someone out to brighten your boring day at work.
You seem to forget that Germany, France and Russia are all being investigated because they were taking bribes through the "Oil for Food" program to do everything in their power to prevent the UN from following through their resolution.
All that US and Bush did was stand by his word when it came to said Resolution. I do not exactly agree with the war nor am I a total Bush fan, but I do respect people who try their best to follow through on their word. And yes, I know Bush has not followed through on everything he said. But in his defense, he was not expecting to have 9/11 cripple our market either.
As for those senators that did not truely want to go to war but were afraid to stand for what they believe, I find them to be the scum at the bottom of the septic tank. If they are going to be afraid to stand for what they believe just because the media might attack them and they might lose a few poll points then they have no business to be in the position they are in. The people voted them into office because of the ideals they said they stood for. If they cannot stand for those ideals when the pressure is on they have no right to be there in the first place.
However, from what I have seen, most of them just play to the crowd. If the crowd is for the war, they are for it. As soon as the crowd is against it, they magically change their opinion and they never were for the war and if you would suggest otherwise you are attacking them. They honestly stand for nothing except what is popular and I do not want someone that only does what they think will earn them more popularity points. That goes for both parties, as they are both guilty of this.
The idea for a portable device is the ability to quickly turn it on and use it. This appears to be using a version of XP, which to me sounds like a boot sequence to start it. Does not make it very practical for keep track of PDA type stuff.
If it is intended for a laptop, why in the world would you want to restrict yourself to a screen that size and require yourself to have to buy extra hardware for it? The concept of a laptop, at least as I saw it, was to have everything you need built in. So the device doesn't quite fit in there.
Outside of Novelty, I just do not see a practical need for this. Reminds me sort of the HP Jornada Windows CE devices that were built like mini-laptops.
Try "Microsoft Sucks" in their beta and on the Google News search. Interesting enough, there are only two articles from MSN's search. Both are critism light, while Google News comes back with articles from Linuxworld, Slashdot, etc.
I think I will stick with Google News for now. At least it is not obviously spinning responses for the home team. I.E. the fact that the lead article today in Tech as about Google being shut down by a virus yesterday.
Yes, but her brother's friend's sister's step-daughter's uncle's godfather's boyfriend's hairdresser's dogwalker's co-worker's dad has a potato chip that looks like Bill Clinton.
Oh no! You just stumbled on every corporation's ultimate goal. People with no independant thought, only giving responses to electrical or chemical signals they send./me rushes off to find a tin-foil hat.
Last time I checked, the United States was still a democracy and the public decided to put all of those systems into place. Likewise, although average Joe doesn't get it, we have the power to remove all those systems.
But I think those systems are good ideas, they just need to be cleaned up. Jose the illegal alien should not be allowed to get food stamps and medicare, yet 9 times out of 10 he gets them. Of course, Jose the illegal should of been deported the first time he was found to be illegal, but that is a different topic.
Universal access fees on Cable Modems isn't something I look forward to, but I understand why it is necessary. Just as the telephone changed the way business was done when it first was widely adopted, the internet has done the same. It is a rare occurance now for me to mail a check, instead I use e-drafts online. It is quicker, easier, and more likely to get there on time.
But, having lived in a rural area, it is annoying to be stuck on a 33.6k connection. The answers we got when we asked about the services was that cable companies don't want to bother to run the cable, phone companies don't see the need to upgrade. The only other option was Satelite DSL and it was unreliable. If there is a way the government can force the big companies to change that, then I am for that.

I am less worried about the "TODO: Privacy policy goes here." than I am that there are other areas that have "TODO: Security Fix Needed Here."
I do not think it reflects well on a company to put out finished products with obvious mistakes like this.
Man my karma is going to hurt form this but....
You mean that Clinton is calling Kerry's war record into question now too?

Forgot my other favorite from them "(We aren't that) Innocent".
Oh boy, that means the even more hit releases from Windows Updates.
I've really enjoyed previous releases from them such as "Oops! We Screwed Up Again" and the holiday hit "The 12 Days of Updates"
If you believe that there will be anything left to sue for...

Just think of all those Symantec Anti-Virus for Pocket PC software packages Symantec is going to sell to the stupid masses.

Or more importantly, of those Linux users are not IT People or Computer Geeks like us?
And by the time I tried to get it (a few seconds ago), Software Update was no longer mentioning that the update was available.
Had to go to their site and manually start the download.
