Jython is an example of just this. Here is a quote from the Freshmeat page.
Jython is a Java implementation of the Python programming language. It allows users to compile Python source code to Java byte codes, and run the resulting bytecodes on any Java Virtual Machine.
Very funny, perhaps if they ame up with original names for their products in the first place instead of hijacking very common almost generic words. Office, Word, Money, Windows,...
Dont forget about the TK-421 modification

I have this very unit at home, but of course I got it modified with the TK-421, which cheeks it up another 3 or 4 quads per channel, but thats technical talk.
Didn't HP just release there SE Linux the other day? I just got back from the book store to pick up 'Linux Journal' and it was funny how 'Linux Magazine' and LJ have almost identical Security Special Editions.
We have a few Slack servers, this machine is SGI RH with XFS, but it was Slack 7.1
It was a bit more work, but I knew everything going on with it. Now I am learning about RH and when things don't go smoothly it is very frustrating because I don't feel as in controll over whats installed.
Might just be that your more comfortable with what you know.
Check the Open Source Projects, check out the license...
This seems like a small PR blemish for a company that is trying hard to do the right thing.
I dont think they have the right to every project with 'Open' in the name or 'GL' but when I first heard about OpenAL it was obvious to me that they had modeled the name after OpenGL.
I love using emacs but there is so much to learn. Does anyone know of a great web site for learning emacs? I think a well built web site that was newbie oriented would do emacs well. I used emacs in school, started working with MS IDE and have forgotten so much of what I knew...
Not "what's./" but "WHOIS./"... I am certain that dotslash.org used to link to slashdot.org... it doesn't anymore though... I wonder if Rob did sell this domain...

They should have it all fixed up by then I suppose.
Well said...

I've started many of his articles.... but I don't think I've ever finished one.
I'll give this one a chance too...
My vote too...

Really? It's super cool! You can't see it? Try bluring your eyes and hold it about 20 cm from your face...
I agree, lets get a new catagory and maybe they would post more of the submissions they get.
Like go eat a doghnut, eh...
Well...I only bought one.

I want to get one of these handhelds, like this, or an ipaq, but I dont want to buy one if some of my money is going to an OS I won't use.
Tough stand though...
You did something very cool. I love to see other people do stuff like this. Even in a place like Slashdot people can be so negative...

Fast as all Hell!!!
Very nice work!!
Good point, have you ever compiled all of gnome though? You gota admit it is a major ordeal...
Carefully chosen purchases, to support the open source movement....wasted...
Good point, I had read this before but couldn't remember the link. I hate listening to popular but wrong scientific refrenences like that.
Thanks,
my wrists are killing me...
check out the cool link at the bottom of the page.
