Yeah yeah most of/. is. Using fewer laws is nice, but this wouldn't fly. This means any person trying to contact you could get arrested or sued. Once you start trying to make a line between businesses and people you start making too many laws.
So it's not stealing. There's a term for those who can't differentiate between a physical object and information. It's called insanity. Come back to the real universe.
I have to call BS on that one. I did look into the history of someone who admits to working for Microsoft (Dave Obsjano or something), but I highly doubt this person is paid to post to slashdot. I just don't think posts to slashdot figure in during the annual review.
There's enough crap out there you gotta sort through it somehow--and I'd prefer to use something from a bright.
I'm sure Knuth's book is infected with decimal anyway--there's two strikes.
Isn't this a major benefit of more bits? You can play with the concept of mapping disk like memory, since you have plenty of address space for any size disk. The Athlon 64 might be a kludge, but introducing more bits is a good thing.
Games have closed source because they rely on copy protection (even if it's weak). Imagine the source to the latest games. Imagine a world without copyright.
Can we use languages not by lunatics?

By the way, I'll be sending you an invoice for using my idea linking slavery to "intellectual property". I patented it!
I think the slavery angle is so dead-on in many ways. The opponents calling us unrealistic utopians. The compromisers. Others are using it too. Let this meme catch on!
I'm sure they have plenty of cash...they are fighting this in the courts. So many people default to the cynical/pessimistic judgement that they can't consider the alternative.
Cynicism and pessimism is not original or insightful at all. It is empty and braindead...a drag on progress. If that's all you feel, may I recommend the Church of Euthanasia.
Decimal just has to go. It complicates everything, especially floating point. What is simpler...more elegant, a routine to print out the decimal format of a number, or the hexadecimal format?

Maybe the ACLU should get into this. How can a libertarian argue for laws that give more ability to sue?
Remember the floating point coprocessors? I don't want to have to deal with a 40h bit coprocessor. AMD has right now and in one package.

The Doom authors noted how much simpler it was than Wolf3D simply because of the move from sixteen to thirty-two bit.

It'd only be stealing if your code was deleted when it was copied.

Larry Wall is a Christian. Sorry, next language.
As far as I'm concerned, this person is just another lonely soul if he doesn't have a good partner to share life with. I want to know.

They are the establishment. Fuck the establishment. The next great thing will come out of some libertarian's garage.
Let's put forth the abolish-patents (and copyright) meme for every related story (about one in two here).
So don't collaborate with a decimal user.
At least in this particular case.
Any defeat of a patent is good news.

Perhaps cynicism is not the only motivation that exists?

Shouldn't you have predicted that the telemarketers would have just passed on some cash to the campaign funds and won? Ooops.
Done growing fifty extra fingers?

...if you can't lock code under copyright anymore. It will have served its purpose.
