> 2) why am I carrying a phone, MP3 player, camera, etc, at the same time?
Because a phone must be small, if I go to a Bar or a Party, I want a small phone that fits into my little jean's pocket. So, a small phone is not going to have a big screen, forget big space to store mp3 or a great camera.
I usually use my Nokia 8801 with my Nokia 770 (or check the new Nokia 880 with webcam). When I go out to a party for example, i leave my 770 in my house and just use my little 8801.
You don't need to setup anything to run it for the first time, only if you want to play with performance, you can start to modify parameters as memory, max connections, etc.
PostgreSQL is easy and powerful, just give it a try.
PostgreSQL seems to be a more "professional" database. Speed isn't everything, check on the article things like DATA INTEGRITY, SPECIAL server-side FEATURES, LOCKING and CONCURRENCY SUPPORT or LARGE OBJECTS.
I choose PostgreSQL for my applications.
If there is no driver for my OS, i don't buy the product, so, they lose a sale, and money.
Specially for servers, there are a lot of opensource servers out there using scsi cards, raid cards, etc.
At work, first I see if it works under Linux, if not, i don't buy the product.
So, it's coherent what the article says.
I see your point. But, with network drivers, it's another thing, because it's a pain in the ass to use another media to install the driver:)
I'd never had any problem with network cards with linux. YET.
"Want job satisfaction? A 'careful choice of career is the key"
Personally, from a human point of view, I think this's not true.
Satisfaction comes when you like what you do, and when you get satisfaction, you want more. So, the conclusion is that nobody can get satisfaction.
"I could not get Windows XP to detect the HP Compaq d220 microtower's onboard Broadcom NIC. I used another computer to download XP drivers from HP's site, and burned them to CD for installation on the d220, but still no luck.
This same NIC was detected and automatically set up by MEPIS, Knoppix, and Mandriva Linux during their installations. I was surprised that Windows XP was not able to do the same. "
Honestly, THAT is a real problem with windows, I can't believe when i have to do that with a fresh install of windows.
Opera costs are USD 39 for the desktop and USD 29 for mobile.
I still don't understand why someone will choose pay for a browser.
There are good free/opensource options. I think Firefox is the best choice. Why will I pay for a browser?
It's incredible how a normal person can break the law with a software.. and be caught.
A lot of people doesn't think that sharing files using a p2p program is illegal.
They just treat software, music and movies as normal data, not copyrighted "data".
It looks very functional, and I like the list of "steps", this's familiar for us who installed a lot of gentoo installations.
Still, I prefer the text installation, it gives you more control and teachs new people a lot of linux stuff.
"Why do you care what web browser/email client/etc people use?"
Because, if I see that a friend, is doing something wrong, I tell him "it's wrong".
If I see a friend trying to buy a shirt that doesn't look good, I tell him "that's not for you".
If I see a friend, that is using a program because it's what came with his computer, I tell him "Try that, it's better, if you don't like it, you can still use the other program".
Besides, I like to give people other options, normal users doesn't know what software options are available, they just see microsoft, and that's bad.
I think it's great to see laptops with linux being sold, but I ask one thing, who buy this kind of laptop? A linux user, or a person who doesn't know that it comes with linux? If it's the second option, does this person keeps linux, or install windows after he realize it's not the operating system of choice?
It'd be great to see some statistics about that:)

It's a feature, not a bug.
or you could ask... How much hard disk space do you use for your swap partition today?
The Nokia 770 IS NOT A PHONE. It's an internet table, comes with WIFI and Bluetooth.
You can with the Nokia 770 using ssh and xforward, check this http://digitalen.blogspot.com/2006/05/log-3-nokia- 770-as-remote-control-como.html as an example.
.. no bends, hammers, pull-off, vibrate?
and no "feeling"
if you play the same music with your midi player, it'll sound exactly the same
it's a nice robot, but maybe a waste of time?

Or Robin hood?
... for what? to fight aliens? to fight ground terrorists?
Please, we don't want space weapons... YET.

Microsoft is not going to open their windows source. Remember Longhorn? they need to make bussiness with that first.
Thanks for this usefull info, that's what i wanted to know.
I use open source software and listen to free music.

Linux is not *BSD, and *BSD is not linux, maybe you don't want to look for compatibility between them.
Because bad signal? I don't have luck with that, always bad signal inside my house.
