That's not what = means. = is ASSIGNMENT. They're looking for ==.
Much as I know you're joking, I'd really love to get rid of this bane that C has brought upon us. Many previous languages used:= to mean assignment, hence avoiding the clash with the mathematically well defined = symbol.
You'd prefer something like '<=>' to indicate 'logical equality' then? That's more similar to the actual symbol used. But then that's not so easy to type as '=='. http://en.academic.ru/dic.nsf/enwiki/145316
In programming languages older than Algol (from which Pascal was derived) such as FORTRAN, the single '=' was good enough to designate both variable assignment AND logical equality.
It was your precious Pascal (along with Algol) that muddied the waters.

Reading your post, I got to "ematic" and thought it was some language term for a word fragment that I didn't know, until I realized it WAS the word fragment.
Slashdot reading in the early morning is hard.
Shouldn't that be Slashdot *readings* in the early morning is hard?;)
As I recall, zero degrees Farenheit is the freezing temp of alcohol and 100 degrees Farenheit was originally supposed to be the normal body temp of humans (someone must have had a slight fever when Farenheit was measuring his data.)
The security for FedEx planes is a lot tighter than that of passenger jets (without a electronic encoded access badge, you don't get past the lobby.) And packages are screened before they get anywhere near the planes.
Building amplifiers. In high school. Not all parents are millionaires, and few kids have this sort of opportunity. Where exactly do you expect a kid to learn how to solder electronics? Do they not have Radio Shack where you live? Millionaires? Her father is a firefighter. It was a one watt mono amp. A school project. She also built a telephone. How rich does that make her. In a perfect world I would expect kids to learn to solder from their shop teacher. Here, well I guess their parents should teach them. Or they can look it up on the internet and practice. firefighters make more than the median income in any locale, and certainly more than any school teacher - which is a shame because they're overpaid and contribute less to society than school teachers.
As for "shop" classes - the high school where I learned to solder over 25 years ago shut down the "Industrial Arts" department over 15 years ago.
Radio Shack is not a very good source for the serious electronics "jobber". Since the advent of "disposable" and cheap IC-based electronics, there hasn't really been a good brick-n-mortar source for the serious hobbyist, or jobber. And learning to solder from online sources would be like learning to be a symphony conductor from online sources.

I once worked with a guy who had worked in the Navy as a nuclear power technician. He then went into the civilian world as a technician for nuclear power plants. During the course of one of his workdays, it was necessary for him to visit the utility company's coal-fired power plant. He didn't think anything of it and left his personal dosimeter attached as he went through the plant. He told me that his dosimeter recorded enough RADs in that conventional power plant to register as LETHAL.
If you had read the article, you'd realise that there is no mention of creationism at all. Not in the article nor in the final curriculum objectives as decided by the State School Board.
Anyone familiar with the topic knows that there are great gaps in the fossil record, such that the tooth of an extinct pig in Nebraska gave rise to the scientific community filling in the "evolutionary history" of homo sapien sapien with "Nebraska Man".
Let us not forget that McCain isnt exactly scandal-free.
He was one of the infamous Keating Five who played no small part in bring about the savings & loan crisis.
That small debacle has ended up costing this nation $30 BILLION. It was very similar in nature to the current mortgage crisis.
Here this nation sits on the verge of yet another financial crisis of larger proportions and people are supporting putting one of the biggest screw-ups from the last time in the Oval Office
BINGO!!!
And why exactly is this http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=227329&cid=18413691older post of mine considered flamebait?
I'll agree with you that the reason that the meta-moderation system was put in place was to correct the problem, but too many improperly moderated posts are NOT getting corrected through meta-moderation.
With the broken moderation system of Slashdot, posts are moderated by ONE reader of unknown bias, education or qualifications. It only takes one such moderator to bury a post on Slashdot.
With Digg, it takes quite a few negative impressions to get a post buried.
It's obvious you either can't read or you simply chose to ignore the fact that the OP corrected himself almost THREE hours before you posted your ignorant statement (and a mere five minutes after he put up the post you're responding to.)
Since you place such value on such things, let me say that from my POV, as a longtime follower of Slashdot, the moderation system is broken, and the site has gone to pot since Roblimo's Florida posse over at Linux.com took over.
BTW, at least the person you're criticising wasn't hiding behind the Anonymous Coward ID like you are.

I recalled incorrectly - 0 degrees was the freezing point of brine.
I knew I never should have trusted anything my seventh grade science teacher taught us.

This was back in 1993.
Iran didn't invade the U.S. Embassy in 1980. No government forces were involved in the takeover.
Last I checked, Cassini was an ESA (European Space Agency) project.
I think there are quite a few Slashdotters who need geography lessons.
You forget, the vast majority of slashdotters are godless people who don't want thinking minds - they only want agreement with their personal atheism.

You just have to watch the basket a bit more closely is all.
I should have been more clear - your refutation does not contain any authoritative sources - just a Slate article with unknown sources.
Uh - Yes.
Everything you state is contradicted by other sources. For instance:
http://www.realchange.org/mccain.htm
Pay attention now - actual *sources* for their assertions are given, whereas your refutation contains none.

Are you referring to 802.10g ?? Thats not Ethernet - thats WiFi (well, one of them anyway) ...
... and it only applies one sort of standard ... theres also Token Ring (802.5) ...
802.3 is Ethernet
"But the most animals that are that hairy do not live in warm or hot environments."
Do you have any specific examples to cite?
Right off hand, I can't think of any larger creatures with hairy coverings that live in arctic and sub-arctic conditions.
But I can think of at least one species with a very hairy mane that lives in very warm climates - the African Lion.
