$100 + sales tax gets you 1000 minutes good for a year. Any subsequent refills, even if smaller $ amounts are good for a year and extend current balance as well. Text msgs are 10c each way (used to be 5). So if you don't text a crazy amount and instead call people, its a pretty good deal. You would have to be a very heavy user of minutes ot justify a monthly plan and it sounds like you are not.
Contrary to your personal preferences, many people who read a lot prefer a dedicated reader and do not want (or desire) the added distractions of a tablet. And an e-reader will last for a couple weeks on a charge. Will your tablet or smartphone? In fact I'd suggest that anyone who is travelling in unconventional ways should bring an older 'dumb' phone which can last close to two weeks on standby with similar talk time as things like iPhones.
Otterbox appears to make a variety of cases for many different devices. However, they don't come cheap and might be a substantial fraction of the cost of the ereader.
For DIY, if your concern is just while the reader is in transit/packed (ie, not in your hand), have you considered just using (small) bubble wrap? Its light and two or three times around should provide adequate protection against all but a hammer. Seal inside zip lock bag(s) and for good measure toss in a couple of those silicone moisture absorbing packets. If you have a small styrofoam shell from product packaging you might be able to adapt that and close with duct tape.
memory use second. And can we finally get tabs in individual procs? It is not just plugins that cause it to hang. But really, focus on speed and leave all the other BS where it belongs, in the garbage. It still renders pages slower than opera and chrome but I tolerate it as I can't get my (few) favorite plugins for the others. I've been using the ion monkey build and honestly, I see no improvements at all so am not holding out much hope for the future.
The only criteria should be physical inspection and I think gender changes would be sufficiently evident to be obvious to a doctor. As to the freaks of nature, say women who have elevated testosterone levels.. well gee.. aren't all olympic level athletes genetic freaks? What would the world have said of Phelps in the 1930s? or even earlier? Check em for dope and if they have the correct naughtybits leave it at that.
All my friends? You mean all those people I deny because I have NO FUCKING CLUE WHO THEY ARE? I would also submit that putting every facet of your life on sites like FB hardly constitutes as normal an is instead an aberration of thousands of years of custom between individuals.
falicious argument. Nobody pays you on your days off which is when you should be mowing the lawn. And by spend that hour with the family, do you mean while you surf the net and watch some youtube? Or are you referring to the time spent within 200 feet of the kids who have locked themself in their room with an xbox?
is expected to be handy with tools, some of them powered? Are you kidding? I see mow and blow crews doing yards in even lower class neighborhoods now. Do they still even teach woodshop in schools? Hasn't it been replaced by intro to Mandarin so that little Johnny will be able to understand the menu at the Chinese restaurant when he's 30? Plain and simple, 99% of Americans under the age of 60 don't want to do it them self.
And in the case of CA, the spread between starting and median is 27K I think it is reasonable to assume there will be some at 27K over the median putting them at 89K in 2010-11. In fact, while this is subjective, I suspect that the average salary will be be higher than the median as the annual step ups become greater. Anyhoo, take a look at this which again, I found with a quick search. It includes everything, part-timers, substitutes basically anything that was paid. I've seen better ones which include the teacher's position (ie, history or music).
Take a look at N. Babylon UFS or if you think thats a richy rich area, take a look at Yonkers which is generally speaking low middle class with median household inc of 44K and 13% poverty. Are those school district salaries in-line with the demographics of the population? I had to go 25 pages (1250 names so I think I'm past administrators, no?) Page 39 breaks the 50K barrier. Looking at the fall off, anything past page 42 are probably par-time, teachers aides, substitutes, etc. Even in Allegheny county there are many making over 50K. And as I said in my original post, unlike a "regular" working making the same salary, a teacher has the ability to take from one to three months part time work during the summer. At $15/hr thats 27 hours a week during the summer to add another 5K.
So we will disagree but I do not find that teachers, in general, are underpaid at all especially when benefits are factored in.
I am located in the north east. A number of counties have begun to disclose teacher pay and it as shocking to see many over 100K and a very large number > 75K. A quick search shows this with the various medians for 2009. Please remember median = just as many lower as higher.
Consider further that teachers have, give or take a week, three months off during the summer during which time they can, if they so chose, to do other work - teaching or something else. Teachers, like students, get a considerable number of holidays and vacation breaks. In this area, the 2012-13 calendar has 36 days of holidays and breaks. That is more than the average employee gets in a full calendar year.
Oh.. and I don't sing me the song about teachers moaning that they do work at home, on weekends or on holidays or vacation days. So do the vast majority of salaried professionals in this country.
As to test scores I refer you to this and quote this:
A NAEP summary last year reports that the average score on the reading test in 1971 was 285 points out of a possible 500 and that it rose all the way to 286 points by 2008
But gee..what's another billion or two down the sinkhole that is edukation in the US? More money is thrown at and wasted upon schools, teachers and....gasp... yes the children and what is there to show for it? NOTHING. 60 years of NOTHING. Class sizes are up to 50% smaller, many in the low teens. Effect? ZERO. Electronic teaching 'aides', internet, laptops, tablets... Effect? ZERO. Teacher salaries and benefits into six figures? Effect? Richer teachers.
Test scores are flatline and have been since the 1960s. But yeah, just keep tossing money at it because there is clearly a 'problem'. If I had the dough I would open a school with a curriculum and teaching practices based upon that used in the 1920s to 1940s. Shocking how the grups can actually do simple math in their heads, write a coherent sentence, are well read and even know quite a bit of world history.
how the fuck does this shit get a patent? that it only appears when you touch the screen some how makes it magical? the one government institution al qaeda will never destroy is the patent office which seems to be able to single handly ruin the eekonomy.
WTF do you care if there is a CLI? Why are you even wasting breath talking about it? It is not a problem and is there for those who want or need it. Talk about solution looking for a problem. Honestly go regulate something else, ok?
time for a FOIA request to FBI, NSA,DOJ, etc on their contacts with Cisco on t his topic. When shit comes back redacted, if at all, you'll know whats up for sure.
So if this atrocity somehow survives through SCOTUS will this mean authors who self publish are now required to provide braille copies or else be sued too? Will I have to spend thousands of dollars to sell one or two copies of my book to a blind person? Are you fucking kidding me? ADA has morphed from 'we should try where we can to do what is reasonably possible to help the handicapped' to 'gimme gimme gimme or else!' Disgusting.
Please define 'that small'. These are not things that fit in your book bag. You would not at all easily get something like that past security or likely even into the entrance of a govt building before you were questioned. In addition, radiation detectors, fixed and mobile, are in every major city making even the transport to the final destination suspect. Sorry, this is a red herring that AEI and others use to try to jack up the fear level and get additional funding directed to their pet agencies/projects/corporate and sovereign associates.
and would still have a very limited yield well under 5KT if even passing 1KT. On top of that, urban detonation is going to contain a lot of the already meager damages. Hopefully if they ever try something like that they do it on K street as after all, that is the real seat of power in the US.
Maybe someone will nuke the AEI first? And second too? There is no such thing as a suitcase nuke and there never was. There were some semiportable 'backpack' nukes which had a whopping yield of a few tenths to at most one or to kiloton. That's not taking out DC and might not even take out the bunkers under the white house.
you are 18. go out, get drunk get laid have some fun. get a meaningless job and just have some fun.. You'll thank me for this advice in about 15 to 20 years.
Honestly this has to be the worst question ever...and really what type of loser would even ask such a thing? My God whats next, how to indroduce someone to Lassie?
And that is exactly what the FBI, NSA, etc would like to have you thinking. That site X is a more secure/better alternative. What better a front is there to keep tabs on those who don't want them to know what they are doing?

I have used this on kayaking trips

I switched from KDE to Xmonad.. found all the DEs to be bloatware.

The best part of this is the company is located in Barre VT (and its not pronounced Bar!)

after 30 years is it shocking that pc growth will depend upon replacement cycle and population growth?

not enough to offset the cost of providing the access you dolt. the poster spoke of renovations to existing structures, not new buildings.
