The major flaw in your comparison is that Windows represented over 90% of the computing market compared to Apple. When it comes to iOS market share as Android fans will tell you repeatedly that iOS (around 20%) is much less than Android (almost 80%).

  2. The TRUTH is the vast majority of Apple users of Spotify pay no money to Apple. If they do pay for Spotify subscriptions they are doing through other means like Spotify directly. The 30% fee only applies if the user pays Apple through the app which amounts to a handling fee.

There is Air France 447, on an Airbus A330. There was a sensor malfunction which led to a sensor discrepancy. The plane detected this, deactivated Auto pilot, and switched to Alternate law. Allowing the pilot to operate outside the protected operating envelope that people blame fly by wire on. They pulled the nose up, the plane responded to the command, told them they were going to enter a stall, then let them enter a stall, and the plane continued to respond to their command for nose up elevator, with 100% thrust, in a stall, all the way from 38,000 ft to the ground. You also had poor crew management where they were both trying to fly the plane with opposing commands on the controls. How should the plane know how to react to such poor crew resource management?

Some of your details are right in that the plane detecting all 3 speed sensors failing switched off Autopilot; however, the design of the Airbus 330 did contribute to the crash. For example the throttle position was at 100% but it was at 80-85% thrust. This is one of problems of some of the Airbus controls in that they are electronic and don't reflect actual physical position. When the pilots put the plane into autopilot they set the thrust and pitch electronically but the throttle stick itself doesn't move to match.

Another manifestation of this design is that two joysticks are not mechanically linked like they are in older planes or Boeing planes. The Pilot Flying (PF) was on the right side. His joystick was on the right side so it was obscured from the view of the more senior pilot in charge. The PF was trying to pull back to climb out of a stall which is the worst thing you can do; however, it wasn't until the plane had lost a lot of altitude when the senior pilot discovered this and tried to take control. Since the joysticks are not linked the senior pilot wouldn't have know the PF was trying to climb. His joystick does not mirror what the other pilot is doing. In yoke-style controls of older planes, the senior pilot would have know immediately that the PF was pulling back as the yoke would be on his chest.

Yes pilot error was the main reason for the crash but the cockpit design contributed.

That seems to be a limiting use case as the lag from inputs would make some games like FPS and any game where response time matters unplayable. Those are the likely the only games where graphics would matter between a console and a PC. I can’t imagine people want something Solitaire 4K in their livings rooms.

He’s not talking about just resolution. The refresh rate of gaming monitors is much higher than TVs with 120Hz to 144Hz or higher being common. Also the resppnse time is much lower. Granted that level of performance isn’t needed if you’re playing Tetris, but is pivotal on the competitive scene. The question is for what audience was this feature intended.

  10. She complained about one person . You turned it into “ALL” and then went off on a rant. How is that not dishonest at best in that you don’t care about what she actually said? And even if she said that why do you care so much that a complete stranger doesn’t give a damn about your opinions? Dude, grandparents everywhere haven’t given a damn about other people’s opinions since forever. Are you hurt by that?

  11. No she did not. You are strawmanning her argument. This what she said:

I don’t need A 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn’t made for him! I want to know what it meant to women of color, biracial women, to teen women of color, to teens that are biracial.” Larson would state multiple times that she doesn’t “hate white dudes” while calling for them to be replaced as film critics. “For the third time, I don’t hate white dudes. These are just facts. These are not my feelings.” Larson would add, “Am I saying I hate white dudes? No, I am not. What I am saying is you make a movie that is a love letter to women of color, there is an insanely low chance a woman of color will have a chance to see your movie, and review your movie.”

She clearly says she doesn’t care what ONE white male said about a movie she liked. ONE. And even if she did say ALL, why are you so butthurt that a complete stranger doesn’t care about your opinion? You must think so highly about yourself.

  12. You’re complaining about the “liberal notion” while completely missing her point. A white male criticized the movie she liked from a completely white male viewpoint. He didn’t consider her viewpoint. It’s the same if every adult reviewer savages children’s movies as simplistic and childish without taking into account they are made for children. Some children’s movies are not made for adults at all.

But also you missed my point. She didn’t complain about all white males on all movies. You strawmanned her argument and now on a rant about something else.

  13. She said specifically: “I don’t need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn’t made for him! I want to know what it meant to women of color, biracial women, to teen women of color, to teens that are biracial.” She said didn’t care about what one white dude said about a movie she liked (A Wrinkle in Time). Really is that it? She didn’t say ALL white males about ALL movies. Replace A Wrinkle In Time with any chick flick and it’s the same point. Replace it with any kids movie and it’s the same point.

  14. She didn’t say that. That’s you projecting your biases. The Notebook isn’t for you. Magic Mike isn’t for you. Transformers is for you. Baywatch is for you. You can get butthurt by it or not.

  15. Well if you watched the piece, Oliver shows that while they have been around before now, he also explains why they have gotten worse recently. He explains that under Tom Wheeler , the Obama administration put in procedures to fight them which was struck down by the courts. Since the court decision, the number of calls has skyrocketed. Also he points out that while Pai is on the record to being opposed to robocalls, Pai opposed Wheeler’s procedures. At the moment Pai is only “urging” the telecoms to do something about them. My understanding is that the telecoms make money so they would never really do anything about them.

  16. So she gave a highly nuanced and lengthy discussion about “white males” specifically saying she wanted more diversity and didn’t hate white males. So of course white males got butthurt by it. I find this part interesting: “I don’t need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn’t work about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn’t made for him! I want to know what it meant to women of color, biracial women, to teen women of color, to teens that are biracial.”

Shouldn’t that be a given? I hate to tell you but Magic Mike wasn’t made for most white males. Neither was The Notebook.

  17. No. You made the claim. You can either support it or not. It’s not my job to prove your assertion.

Oh I saw the movie. My point was there were two “white” male characters in the movie and one of them was actually a Skrull. So the only major white male was Colson who wasn’t a villain. As for the Kree, can’t you say there were “white” as they were mostly blue aliens with Jude Law’s character being purple. They were played by an African American male, an African male, Asian female, Scandinavian male, and a British male. If you watched the film, SI takes the form that the person linked to it subconsciously reveres. It could have been a green blob if that is what Captain Marvel wanted. Was that a dumb premise? It was the same premise as Contact.

As for representation, I never brought it up. You did as it seems you are concerned with it. I only contested what the OP said as being factually untrue.
