I think you misunderstood linumax's comment. He is saying that instead of prompting the user to insert a floppy to train it, just automatically do the training behind the scenes the first time a floppy is inserted.
> The banks often drop a small software program, called a cookie, onto a user's PC to associate the computer with the customer.
Since when are cookies software programs? I wish the media would stop perpetuating misinformation about cookies.
This is frickin ridiculous. The post barely gets up and the page is slashdotted without any mirror. This happened yesterday to the Batman/Building Block movie trailer, too. I still can't get that page up, or even the mirror someone made.
I'd rather not hear about this stuff if I can't check it out.
The one thing I had against the Honda Commericial is this: At one point, the tire going up the ramp bumps the next tire, appears to go back down the ramp, only to suddenly reverse direction and follow the other tire back up the ramp. The motion of all of the tires is a bit odd.
Why do you have to use IE at work? Just try installing Firefox. I don't have admin rights, but I was able to install Firefox anyway. Can anyone give me the correct reason?
Funny - slightly. But such a troll. Why would he need change when there is no $1 million dollar bill? He would write a check, wire money, or charge the exact amount to his credit card, or pay cash with $1000 bills. None of these scenarios require change.
Again the fine is so low in comparison to gain to make it almost negligable and totally ineffective.
What gain is it that you are talking about? Did you read the article?!? He simply didn't file some paperwork. If he had filed the paperwork, he would have still been able to purchase the stock. An $800,000 fine out of $50,000,000 is quite substantial for not filing paperwork.
This is not tech news. This is personal news about Bill Gates with nothing to do with Microsoft. Other than to laugh at and make fun of Bill Gates, who cares about this stupid story. Post better stories or don't post anything at all. Right?!?
I use the Google toolbar and never really go to the Google webpage. Will the Google toolbar be able to access the personalized profiles for personalized searches? I haven't spotted the answer yet. I'll try the personalized searches, but don't plan on using anything but the Google toolbar for 95% of my searches.
I am sure there are a lot of us that played with, or still occassionally play with Lego. My parents just made me take my old Lego bins and I played with them a bit. Now they are into my closet for long term storage.
My question is, of those of use that played/plays with Lego, who actually cares about Lego trains?
I never used to care much about Microsoft and their company, one way or the other, good or bad. I have Windows on one of my computers and never had much to complain about. But, I don't want to constantly encounter Microsoft ads. Now they seem to be bullies and the want and want and want more. I don't want Microsoft to control everything. I don't want the internet to belong to Microsoft. However, this seems to be their direction, their attitude. And it sucks.
Similarly, there is also Digipen in Redmond, Wa, and Vancouver, B.C. Does anyone know how it compares to Guildhall?
I've heard Digipen is a source for Nintendo to draw upon, but I don't believe it.
Personally, I believe that you don't need a special degree in computer game design to make it. Anyone with a CS degree and their own time to read books and make their own game will learn the same thing. Plus, the CS degree is more marketable. Focusing on just the game industry during school seems like a bad idea.
Do what you want to do. Don't worry too much on the economy. If you prepare with good grades, solid projects during school, side projects or open source participation, and a few good internships, you'll be able to find a job. And so what if it takes 6 months to a year? Relax. You could use a vacation.
I went to a state university that had a top computer science and engineering program. They didn't let a lot a people each year. Quite a lot people that loved computers probably got bumped by people that just wanted to work with computers for the money. Now, they probably got bumped because they weren't the best computer science students also, but they genuinely wanted to work with computeres and couldn't get a degree at their university of choice because of the craze.
Reading books from a computer screen is not as good/enjoyable as from paper. So, this is definitely a step in the right direction.
I get most of my books from the library for free, and I don't read newspapers, so I am not sure that I would be willing to pay for one of these, no matter how cool they are.

Surely you don't believe that the picture of Bush holding the book upside down is real.

He finished watching at ~4am, so probably didn't start until 2pm. Not the brightest idea.
"Addicted to Love" was done by Robert Palmer not Robert Plant. Duh.
Where I live (Seattle), I seem to recall it being illegal to wear headphones while riding a bicycle.
Hmm.. Your math is wrong. Assuming your numbers are correct:
45 MJ * 737 kg / 254 gals = 125 MJ per gallon
125 MJ per gallon = 34 kWh per gallon
No, but the NU is.

Big deal, who cares. Do I really need to know when some group's servers crash?

This article smells fake to me. Some of the claims are just a bit too outrageous.
900,000 songs in 10 months = 3,000 songs per day? How could he work a full-time job and have time to find all of these songs?
~3 TB = 300 GB per month? Wouldn't his ISP notice and shut him down?
So, $800K does seem to be a bit much.

Have I ever ripped a CD to .rm format and listened to it? No I haven't. I don't want to. This is absolutely stupid.

BTW, it should be called Enk.
