    Market that option in the game and I'm sure sales will go up.
    Lets see, we've had Black & White, and the upcomming Jason vs Freddie sounds a lot like Jason vs. Goliath. So are we looking at the next big gaming hit here: "Satan vs. Jesus" ?

    Recently CDs with "impenatrable copy protection" were released. You can now download the CDs on KaZaa. You buy a game with SafeDisk(tm), then download a no-cd crack(tm).

    My point is that the "industry" may thing DRM is the holy grail and all. But I guarentee you it will be hacked. What happens when your local 15 year old geek destroys his friends computer? Or perhaps his school's computer? Hacks into a government computer and.. Boom.

    What will be the U.S. Government's press release when a terrorist destroys a few hundred computers in key locations such as aisports, banks, military? Think things through before you take those "industry" bribes. No, I don't even call them "campaign contributions " anymore; bribes.

    Too far down for anyone to read... but whatever.

    One of my friends from high school raved about this place. Had things all set up with his student loans and everything. He's telling me about all the crazy equipment they have. How people from iD Software, ILM work there. He was always into 3D modeling/animation in HS, and he was pretty damn good too...

    A year later I see him back home and ask him what the hell he is doing here... Turns out getting a job after graduating from here is null. And if you don't get a job you are stuck with a Trade School degree(as pointed out in an earlier post) and nowhere to go.

    tuition elsewhere. And maybe get a job.

    *shrug* If you're good enough to stand out in a setting like that to get hired you probably didn't need to go there in the first place.

    Just occurred to me... The US Military is using video games to train troops now right? And the games are being released to the public. Well can't we hold the US Government responsible as well? What if there is another Columbine and America's Army(thats the military made one right?) is found in the kids bedroom?

    As a side note... What is preventing Al-Quede from purchasing an XBox and these "training" games? Wonder if they have a position on that issue.

    Ummm.. their proprietary code will be revealed. It has to be.

    Say SCO were to win the litigation. Presumably the linux community will want to get rid of the incriminating code, yes? So after the trial when you notice pieces of linux code dissapearing and being replaced you will know what code was from SCO. More or less...

    I still think this is BS. Instead of writing to the community saying code has been inserted by IBM lets work together to get rid of it they begin with legal action.

    The thing is that SCO claims IBM broke contract and put System V code into Linux whitout which Linux would not be the big-time player it is today. That as you've pointed out they can sue for. But taking a look at OSI's Position Paper I think we can see there is not much that can be stolen from SCO's code to better Linux.

    We formed SCOsource in January 2003 to enforce our UNIX rights and we intend to aggressively continue in this successful path of operation.

    This is SCO's responce. And that's just why everyone hates them. Becuase the "formed" specifically to sue everyone they can get their hands on and not to do business.

    This is just like the guy patenting "online aucitoning" and suing eBay. Its a load of shit. The sad thing is that its a growing industry.

    For now, we demand that SCO either promptly state its Linux infringement allegations with specificity or recant the accusation made in your letter. Further, we demand that SCO retract its false and unsupported assertions of ownership in UNIX patents and copyrights or provide us with conclusive information regarding SCO's ownership claims.

    Finally, SCO being put in its place. I just wonder why this took so long for Novell to bring up.

    Our investigations reveal that some drivers from ATI also produce a slightly lower total score on this new build of 3DMark03. The drop in performance on the same test system with a Radeon 9800 Pro using the Catalyst 3.4 drivers is 1.9%. This performance drop is almost entirely due to 8.2% difference in the game test 4 result, which means that the test was also detected and somehow altered by the ATI drivers. We are currently investigating this further.

    It not about cheating... but about how much you cheat.

    There was a piece done one MSNBC just last week about Ford (or maybe Chrystler) developing a hydrogen fuel cell car. And they already have a working prototype.

    They have a new car making scheme with it. The fuel cell is very small and is located in the bottom chassis of the car. You can have one or two types of 'bottoms' of fuel cell and just put a different 'top' chassis on them.

    With two fuel cell designs you can make SUVs, compacts, etc. just by changing chassis.

    Production expected in 5-8 years I believe. :)

    Makes me feel as though I may have a chance at this science thing after all. I thought scientists had meticulous handwriting (you know, to differenciate themselves from medical doctors). But seeing Einstein's handwriting is pretty much incomprehensible makes me think my scribble could just make take me into the big time. heh.

    Have you ever gotten a bill for dinner for say $12.50 and you give the cashier $15 saying the tip is included?
    You would think 15.00 - 12.50 is doable right?

    HELL NO! The cashier pulls out a calculator to do the math so she can write it in for the waiter's tips!!!

    If people can't add things like this 18cent coins are out of the question.


    Although I would like to hear a cashier go,
    "That makes $0.88 change sir." Pick out two quarters then, ... *pause* .... and just stare blankly at the change drawer.

    This why some have suggested benching games with non-uber-popular graphics engines (ie. quake, unreal). Driver makers can "optimize" for certain popular games but can't do them all obviously.

    Throw in some odd-ball yet popular games in benchmarking. Max Payne, or some other non-standard engined game I can't think of. Then see if both cards still perform the same.

    Of course if we're going this route might as well bench every game right? :)

    Then again, if this would become the norm driver makers would optimize for more games? In which case, of course, we all would win! (If you like taking a quality hit for some FPSs).

    3Dmark03 may be inflated but what counts is real world game benching. And FX 5900 wins over ATI in all but Comanche 4.

    Lets see...

    1 mSv = 1/1000 Sv
    1 year = 31.5 million seconds

    SO....

    1 Sv/sec = 31.5 TRILLION mSv/year

    So this simple device produces 31.5 Trillion times the safe limit of radiation.
    SURE, protecting the world from nuclear winter by substituting it for cancer on a world-wide scale.

    In the actual article (linked previously http://arxiv.org/abs/hep-ph/0305062) is states "requires the accelerator circumference of the order of 1000 km". A circumference of 1000km is a Diameter of about 320km (or about 190mi). Not quite as bad, but still quite an eyesore. Although makes you wonder about an article saying: "We believe the only way this machine may be built is when all the countries on earth agree to do it by creating an organization which may be called the "World Government" for which this device becomes the means of enforcement."
