You realise there's no need whatsoever for 6 gears on an electric vehicle? The torque curve for an AC induction motor is just about flat. That is to say, there is little difference between the torque you get at 0 RPM and the torque you get at 10 000 RPM. One speed would easily do for most use; the Tesla Roadster has a second gear for high speeds, and perhaps if you wanted to go all out you could use three speeds. Remember when you switch from ICE drive to electric drive things aren't always the same, and what a "fun driver" needs from an ICE isn't always necessary.
Do you really want to take a $10k battery pack that you've (hopefully) treated gently during its life and change it for some J. Random pack that someone might have been hideously abusing during its life? What if you exchange for a defective pack and it fails at a crucial time? What if you're going on a long journey and the new pack is old with less range?
People are resistant enough to propane tank exchanges for this reason, and those tanks only cost about $30.
I've heard that Aero Glass, if you have a graphics card which supports it, is actually less demanding because it offloads graphics processing onto the GPU, though I haven't heard any real-world test results.
In theory it's possible, but Windows does not like it when you change the hardware beneath it unexpectedly. Windows fits itself to either your Mac or the Parallels environment, switching would confuse Windows. You could, in theory, do that with Linux (VMware can do it; I don't know if Parallels has the disk support)

Free Space Laser Data Transmitter is just a toy, but it's partly what you're looking for. With two, you could make a full duplex two-way link over which you could run PPP. Paired with a more powerful laser (Thinkgeek green laser pointer maybe?) you probably wouldn't suffer too badly from signal loss. However, you can run the link as fast as the serial port will allow (a measly 112k?). I'm sure someone familiar with computer interfaces could hack a faster interface onto it.
I'd say it's better to instill a sense of "ads aren't what they claim to be" more importantly. It's better to immunize him with the facts (on an Internet site, it's easier to get the fine print which you can use to demonstrate why it's not such a great deal) than to bubble him with adblock and leave him vulnerable in the real world.
5) rm -rf ~/.kde or equivalent That will delete the kde setting in your home directory and the next time you launch KDE the defaults will get copied out of/etc/skel
/etc/skel is only used when making a new user. If an app starts and doesn't find its conf in the user's homedir, it must put in default settings itself.
One word: autopackage. It sets out to solve your problem exactly, so your users can simply click on the package to install it. Just as you want them to be able to do.
/usr/local is a local shadow of/usr./opt is for optional packages, things installed in their own directory, third-party programs, or large self-contained programs (e.g. KDE)

It's from Oligarchical Collectivism in Theory and Practice, the book-within-a-book of Nineteen Eighty-Four.

The aim is to move a pile of libertarians to New Hampshire and shift the government towards a more libertarian one.

AFAIK, the technology is still being developed, and mostly for applications much larger than a vehicle.

A wireless keyboard with a usable built-in pointing device would be even nicer.
I have seen Windows 98 run in 16 MB of RAM. In 1999, cheap systems would come with 32 MB RAM and Windows 98. It was XP that required 64 MB of RAM
Not all North American 240 outlets have a neutral. Some are just two hots and a ground.
Pee is sterile. Your urethra, on the other hand, is not.
On Windows, you can't remote login to a user with a blank password. I believe the same is true with Linux.

I presume you've heard of surface-to-air missiles?
May I suggest altering your diet a bit?
I've also heard that a Lucent WaveLAN card will work as an AirPort (not extreme) card without extra drivers.
You might be able to get close with a Nano-ITX board, which is only 12x12 cm (4.7 in). http://www.viaembedded.com/product/epia_N_spec.jsp ?motherboardId=221

Sure there is. /usr/share/applications, where you have .desktop files for your apps.
Cygwin was mentioned in the article, and they said (in nicer terms) that it was too crappy to work with.
