Sure sounds a lot like levels to me, except that your level is associated with time youve spent in game... As bad as Etrias is at describing EVE, and indeed probably referred to the skill system, in a given ship a younger player is able to specialize relatively quickly. Once your skills are trained to a reasonable level PvP in EVE comes down to your ship's fitting as well as the gang's makeup. That said, EVE has several balance problems (like Titans) but these are not limited to PvP alone. But this thread's parent sounds like an FPS/Guild Wars junkie who uses "flawed" in an ambiguous way.
I agree. It's annoying when I'm reading a summary and I have to go look up what AT&T means. How am I supposed to know it means American Telephone & Telegraph?
Did he not agree to the (generous) salary? His union doesn't have the royalty deals Hollywood has had in place for ages, but look how those have turned out: voodoo bookkeeping to try to work around those royalties.
And do the game's programmers and artists not deserve a percent of the sales as well? Bleh... I can see a decent argument to be made for profit sharing of a game's sales with the team that made it, but this guy just comes off like an ass.
There was zero negative impact when they removed attunements for Black Temple, Hyjal, etc. End game raiders whined that it cheapened their accomplishments (whatever that means in a videogame anyways), when it didn't change a thing. In fact, that change plus the new badge loot helped "casual" players as much as the end-game raiders, in that it became significantly easier to find quality recruits to help stem membership turnover.
In the end, it's the same story you see everywhere. Change happens and those who don't like change will whine to try and keep the status quo -- even if the status quo needs changing.
The middle management didnt know what the brass in Enron was doing. With SCO, every employee knows EXACTLY whats going on, and if they didnt agree with it at least somewhat, they would leave. At least if they were self respecting they would. Perhaps chrisd doesnt want to hire people who arent self respecting, or support a group like SCO. Its his right as an employer to deny such people employment at his company.
They have a right to hire those with values that sit best with their company. If they percieve someone who remains with SCO after their actions as not having the values they seek, they have every right to deny application.
If you really want security, you would also need the computers encrypting to have been Tempest secured. You would be amazed what people can find out by listening to radiation given off by those little transistors in your computer.
The problem here is that you want things back the way they were. However, instead of presenting one side of the argument, why not consider the other. The 60s were full of things today we wouldnt dream of. Repression of women, repression of minorities in general. It comes down to parenting. If you dont want a fat kid, have the kid exercise, or do something other than watch TV or play games. Now, games can be fun, like TV, but in moderation. We can have the benefits of today, without being killers. An adult spending their life on a shrinks couch isnt good, but to deny that one needs help sometimes is not a bad thing.
Conservatives try to keep the "old ideals", but the thing is, history has shown that they almost always unsuccessful. Progressives ride the wave of the future, while conservatives get drudged up in the past.
The blatant sexism and ignorance in this post sicken me. Start respecting women as people who might want to do something other than stay at home. Why dont YOU stay at home while your wife works? Are there any concrete reasons why you should do what you want while she is supposed to stay home "where she belongs?" Stop spewing this blather.
At least those perpetrators had balls.
Ovaries even. Dont forget some of the womenfolk, they did their share of shootin and fraudulence. Can't just go around forgetting Bonnie 'n Clyde.

THe technique is called "rotoscoping".
BTW, if you're offended by this, don't bother to reply.
Then why did you post the original comment if you were offended?

MY house has no basement. Take that, cynical /. reader!
Besides, I assume you are joking, as you spelled it Lunix.
