At least on the Mac Book Pro, Windows is stuck using the more powerful and power consuming Geforce 9600 card. The boot camp drivers doesn't contain the option to change to the 9400.
In OS X, using the 9600 all the time also gives quite poor battery life.
No. Real-time is about being able to guarantee that tasks complete within a certain deadline (and ofc being able to predict this deadline), not doing things fast.
Why doesnt anyone care to implement this on a lower level so all DEs/filemanagers/whatever can use these kind of features instead of binding it to one or two single enviroments?
Arnold Schwarzeneggers first movie: Hercules in New York.
Notice that his name in that movie is "Arnold Strong", probably because of his hard-to-spell surname:)
On a more recent movie it has to be Mars Attacks!. How the hell can you get so many celebs to act in a such horrible movie!
... but I like to point out that RAID (at any level) is not a replacement for ordinary backups because you still have a (fair) chance of filesystem corruption
Why do so many of the gentoo-zealots only mention the speed optimizations as a reason to run gentoo? The reason why *I* run gentoo is because it allows me to very easy customize the features of all packages. Also it very easy to apply custom patches and still have the package managed by portage (therefor knowing when there is a new version out:). The speed improvement (that atleast I haven't noticed) is just a bonus.
Starcraft is korea's national sport. they're most definately celebrities
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_sport their national sport is actually Tae Kwon Do.

Here is the LKML thread discussing this (including explanation of why it isnt accepted into mainline).

... but no matter what app I use my big problem is to force myself to actually DO something about the growing list. ;/

Dont you think that this has something to do with switching providers?
