Pittsburgh is one of the few American cities to be spelled with an h at the end of a burg suffix. While briefly named "Pittsburg" from 1890 to 1911 following a declaration by the United States Board on Geographic Names, the "Pittsburgh" spelling was officially restored after a public campaign by the citizens of the city.
How many active space exploration missions are there? One or two? Over a dozen. Studying Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Vesta, and on the way to Pluto.
Here's a map of them all.

How about structuring comments by topic instead of by time?
Some MIT folks have used argument mapping to structure debates on climate change at Climate CoLab
I've been looking for a way to get into cheap astrophotograpy and found some people using webcams to detect stars down to magnitude 9.6 and even magnitude 14.5.
Has anyone else found links to more recent work?
From the linked site: "The goal of the day is not to solve the climate crisis one project at a time, but to send a pointed political message: if we can get to work, you can get to work too--on the legislation and the treaties that will make all our work easier in the long run."
Instead of helping users close their eyes and ears, Twitter needs to help users kick people out of their cocktail parties.
To stay under a 2 degree celsius global warming increase, we can pour about 565 more gigatons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Unfortunately, fossil fuel companies are already planning on releasing 2795 gigatons from their proven reserves. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/global-warmings-terrifying-new-math-20120719
Hopefully the new models are not just continuing a 20-year trend of underestimating the impacts of global warming. Like melting arctic ice.
...is where I go to get the latest space news. Just kidding. I go to the Bad Astronomer, who posted a color 360 panorama two days ago: http://mblogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/08/09/first-color-360-degree-panorama-from-curiosity/ C'mon Slashot, you can do better than this.

Don't click on the blog link above unless you've got eye bleach...
Looks like it's the former instead of latter: "In the laboratory, the researchers successfully grew microbes from the lake on a diet that was very lean on phosphorus, but included generous helpings of arsenic... That makes it very peculiar, though it falls short of being some form of truly 'alien' life belonging to a different tree of life with a separate origin."
JPL's new Eyes on the Solar System has a 3D+time simulation of most current spacecraft including the approach of Deep Impact (EPOXI) to Hartley 2.

The Transition Movement is a bottom-up approach for communities to prepare for peak oil. You can find a group near you here.
One way to double-check the seasonal variation effect is to look at the output level on radioisotope power sources in spacecraft. Cooper (2008) found no relationship between radioactive decay and distance to the sun.
