Now seriously, my first computer I actually owned was a Commodore Vic-20 (Did some minor programming on it, though didn't delve much into it) Later came the Philips MSX 2 (only for playing games) and the first actual PC was a 8086 with a CGA-color screen. Much later that got upgraded to 286, 386 (+ coprocessor 387), 486SX, 486DX4, pentium, pentium 2 and now an Athlon XP.
The only thing that is keeping them from doing it, is that you have to have an existing fanbase already.. New ideas cannot get this treatment, because they don't have that 10M figure behind them.
But you are right...If you can't beat them, join them. There just needs to be another way of doing it.
Oh and your idea works only if the show (in your example) is of decent quality. But there is nothing against better quality programming.
There is no real proof of this global warming thing you are talking about, we have no data to compare our current condition to. Who knows, the earth could have had a warming up right before the first ice age.
Sure the exhaust-gases we produce can't be that good, and if Bush signs the Kyoto agreement, that would help a lot. But nature is known for its unpredictability, and climate changes are part of nature, that is a fact. In the past there have been much more drastic climate changes, and up to now none of which was because of human wrong-doing.
so basically you get even more "value" for your buck if you stick to the current-gen systems?
Given that the 360 versions of all EA's sports games were in fact products with less features. Fifa 06 on the XBox360 has less gameplay options than the same game on the Xbox1? How can this be? Same goes for NBA 06 btw. i don't want shiny, sweaty basketball players, I want gameplay that matches my set.
They should slash the prices of their next-gen crappy ware.
Okay now this makes absolutely no sense at all. Downloading tv-shows from Bittorrent declined the ratings, but downloading from iTunes actually increases ratings? How are those two different? (aside from the money factor)
... Does it also distinguish between different 'dialects' in sign language? I seem to recall that sign languages differ between countries, same as 'natural' language.
I had a Japanese takeout meal last night...

You do know that GMail is Ajax-based? *drinks another one*
EyeOS, aptly named. That site just destroyed my eyes...
gray on light green.. what a combination!
It makes a great drinking game...
pass that bottle again!
It shows that even bullies can get a job.... as a professional bully for mice.
whereas we, hardcore computer users, don't see any benefit of Vista over XP.

maximum profitability? By turning people off? how does that work?
"Simpsons did it"
nevermore
amaroK can also run on Gnome.
I can see the headlines now: "IT is real"
Oh wait, headlines means that it is published, and publishers don't like checking facts... argh!
oops disregard.. I only noticed the date and time on a certain page, and all posts on that page were from the same time... my bad.
:)
Do I see my problem now? yes
Every post in that thread apparently was written at the exact same time ... 11-25-2005 09:38 AM
Do you see your problem there?
I'm telling ya, the next ice age is coming!

hmmm it seems like I've read this comment for the third time. :)
I'm not sure of the Pesticide bit, but I do know that the sugar will attract a lot of insects ;)

Feels more like 1984 to me.
BTW, Europe is much the same like the US in this regard.
Demanding ISPs to tap internet-traffic. Privacy, what is that again?
oops, sry, I broke teh sheep.

However this is really great for deaf people.
Man, you must hate to browse the web ;)
You just written off half the internet. Especially with #6 (flash/shockwave & java)
coming up, a list of things still to come.
Funny that Slashdot's category image sticks to the age-old logo for Intel.
