It seems to me that the actions of the RIAA against suspected file sharers are an act of terrorism. Demanding payment under the threat of a lawsuit, just because your underage child downloaded music without using a computer is simply a shakedown.
I think the biggest part of the big money's ways is that the corporations do not think about the customers but about the consumers... and in their view there is a subtle difference.. the consumers are like cattle, and can be force-fed all their BS and all the products they wish to slush down the consumer's throat.
But you are right, it would be way more profitable to just give the customer what they want... sadly they don't really see it that way.
Customers and the big industry are locked in a vicious circle, and one of us has to step out...
the sad part is, that they have no guarantee that those people actually return. Sure now they could promise "No NGE in here"... but what is to say that they reverse on that decision and screwing that userbase again? (I know stupid thought, but they have made some strange and idiotic decisions in the past year or so.)
Don't forget, the larger part of that userbase lost their trust in SOE...
I'll just say "seeing is believing"... I don't trust Sony very much. My sarcastic voice tells me that they only say this to gain some more positive publicity for themselves.
I dual boot Linux and Windows, and it is Linux for me for 99% of the times (actually it is getting closer to 100%, still have to make time to actually remove the Windows partition). Besides, VMWare is not free, so you have to pay for a MS Windows license, AND for a VMWare license. Talk about double costs. Dual booting is cheaper then.
actually it was mentioned on many other sites (including Digg)... so ya can't blame Cmdr Taco nor any of the other/.-editors. It only just got debunked. This news will return soon, I'm sure. Just waiting for the official press-release.
I'm anticipating the Revolution more than the PS3... I can't care less about the PS3. Ooooh it is going to have 4D and live games with lot's of spaces, whatever that means...
Big shocker, it is going to be released around November '06, like we didn't know it already. Though March '07 seems more likely to me.
Ubuntu indeed does not give you root access through the GUI and quite frankly it isn't necessary, running Linux as root is the same as running Windows as administrator, especially in the GUI! At home, I run my Breezy as a normal user (I'm the only one on that machine), and I've never had to resort to the root user. 'sudo' _is_ enough for all your tasks, or if you prefer GUI password box 'gksudo'.
I don't understand why peopl gripe about this structure.. on the one hand they scream at the tops of their lungs that running admin in Windows is bad, but on the other hand, they do expect to have root (and nothing less) when running in Linux. Why?
so, what's so wrong with that? There are already closed source programs and binary installations on Linux, and yet, because Google decides to 'port' one of their programs, people suddenly talk about it as if it is a bad thing. It isn't a bad thing, it is a good thing, because it will give the users choice, and the Linux will profit from it, because it gets more programs.
actually I meant the website... I'm sure they meant something nice, but lime green with light gray text is very hard to read, and will not entice me to try their product.
First impressions and all that.
I'm sure that the OS is pretty solid (at least I hope it is), but I just won't try it, if I have to destroy my eye-sight (I already wear glasses) just to find a download screen.
agreed... I'm starting to think, that it is time for me to bail out of Skype. This is indeed a very low blow, and I hope it will bite them in the {you know what}
So, fixed it for ya.
Why apologize to Samuel L. Jackson? You were not paraphrasing him, but John Travolta.

Has someone already created a Wikipedia page on this little tryst? (there is the difference between E-B and W-P :) W-P can be made up to date faster)

well, there is this one issue with the FAT patent allegedly owned by MS...
But I agree, this is entirely out of their FUD-department.
This is Slashdot.. EU doesn't matter (much).

all lies.. you read slashdot.. you can't possibly have a son ;)
I'm not sure about jail, but you can get out of hell free
Steve Ballmer is overheard saying: "I'm going to f-ing kill Apple/Nintendo/Sony." while smashing chairs.

I think the biggest issue is, that Ubuntu promises a new version every 6 months.. and this would make it 7 for this new version. (October - May)

perhaps "Phantom" is a better name for it?
I hope they remove references to IE in their 'linux' version:s wer=15207

hmmm that second image you linked to looks far more like Gnome, than like KDE, are you sure that's an KDE image?
well, since everything will eventually be Google(TM), it might as well get that too ;)
gtalk? :) although people are asking whether you can trust Google or not. :)
