So what if less is produced. Do we really need more drunken drugged up minstrels and the immoral media executives they support. We already have enough, so let them get real jobs, like flipping burgers, washing cars or serving food. Isn't that all that most of the so called artists are generally good for if we cut them off from easy money.
So are you making a call for the abolishment of copyright as a means by which to pander to the Christian Right, is this the new right wing political strategy. Hmm, remove copyright and the incentive for the production of immoral and amoral works driven by greed and the only works that will be produced are works created for the common Christian good.
Your politics sounds a bit extreme to me but it is an interesting idea;).
Bandwidth is bandwidth, you do not have a 10Mbit line if you throttle data access, all you have is a lie.
A line that a corrupt administration in collusion anti-constitutional corrupt corporations which will now allow them to sell bandwidth that they know doesn't exist nor will they even attempt to provide you that bandwidth they claim to be selling to you. The payment for monitoring your calls.
No the governments, you elect create incompetent government departments on purpose to redirect tax dollars to friendly for profit corporations, that you do not take your elected administration to task for creating failing government departments is just foolish.
Private rarely does it better (although they spend millions of dollars on marketing and PR to convince the foolish that they do), in fact their focus is specifically to do the cheapest, worst possible job they can get away with, just look at the highly profitable inefficiencies of a privatised Iraq war.
So tell when is the gun fair and unfair, when you use then gun to define what is or is not yours, or when you use the gun to take what you need, or when you use the gun to eliminate those you feel don't have a right to anything, ownership is defined by the gun. So tax dollars used to benefit you and protect your greed is OK (as long as other people are paying it) but tax for other people needs regardless of circumstance is bad (let them beg for charity).
Free market is autocracy and slavery, that is what it devolves to, a controlled, enforced and regulated market, with social controls is freedom and democracy.
It is really annoying when people try to disable right click, some idiot message pops up on the screen, which you have to cancel prior to gaining the right click menu. Under firefox of course Tools, Options, 'Content tab', Enable Java Script(should be on but do use http://noscript.net/), Advanced, Diasble or Replace context menus (make sure it is un-ticked). My browser, not your browser, my browser;).
What about people on minimum wage, they get paid around $10,000 per annum total, so hmm, as long as they don't eat, or wear clothes or need a place to sleep and don't pay any tax at all, then they too can fund their health and retirement insurance. Or better yet, they just die when they are no longer productive, because it is their fault they are getting a minimum wage, born with low a IQ and lacking in education.
Now for those individuals who suffer an accident and their insurance runs out, they deserve to be cut off, and their lazy children can go out and get a job, being in primary school is no excuse. As for those in the military who were wounded in service, well, they should have been more careful, what right should they have for free medical services etc. for their clumsiness in being shot or blown up.
I suppose your political slogan would be, if you can't pay then you deserve to die. For you, a just, caring and sharing society, must be some kind of weird offensive thing.
Nobody is above the law. Do the crime do the time. When law enforcement kills an innocent person they have committed murder, a whoops doesn't cut it. You want restraint upon the behaviour of excessive force by low IQ ignorant thugs in uniform, then you had better make sure they are held fully accountable for their actions.
So where is the fine line between a law enforcement officer getting shoot from not firing soon enough or a innocent victim getting shot and murdered because a law enforcement officer knows they wont get punished and any bull shit excuse will do, so why take any chances.
So when law enforcement makes a mistakes and takes a life, then they should pay for it no excuses.
So I suppose that is cool, a more expansive personal profiles allows for psychologically targeted marketing assault upon your senses to subconsciously induce and motivate your consumer behaviour. I mean like, WTF, Google and M$ et al can GGF, mind their own business and generally piss off.
The original acceptable level of marketing was to inform the general, emphasis on general, public of the availability of products not a personalised psychologically marketing assault.
So how this is not evil, it is virtual subliminal marketing, what else will Google be selling, their ideal of a political system (they already have lobbyists spreading B$ on their behalf), their ideal that we should not expect any electronic privacy (which they already do by trolling the forums), and their ideal that we should never expect a moments peace form personalised targeted marketing.
Now in this case google doesn't appear to be targeting the end user,' Google plans to support the "storage and movement" of people's health records', but they will be targeting doctors and hospitals, providing them with discounted data storage services, giving the end user no choice as google anal-ytics probes through their personal health records.
Getting past Chinese censorship is also more than just a game, on one side is the pursuit of freedom and democracy that many of us in the west take for granted and on the other side are extremely harsh penalties for getting caught.
What is really odd from a western point of view is that the majority of citizens in the west support the Chinese people in their pursuit of freedom and democracy up until the point they become greed obsessed corporate executives then the support the Chinese government in maintaining the repressive autocratic regimes by censoring and monitoring the network on their behalf.
It really makes you wonder about the nature of corporate executives from Google, Yahoo and M$, and the personal characteristics of their majority shareholders and what else they are willing to sell in order to further bloat their profits. DO the same in their own countries, if the telecoms are any thing to go by, not a problem.
No argument about corporations willingness to sell our freedom and democracy down the river, just an argument about how much they are going charge.
So you are saying she failed to prove she was innocent, stop and think about that for a second. The fine should stand, what needs to be adjusted is the burden off proof required for that level of fine. Obviously an isp's record for a basic internet account, or a private for profit companies record of activity of that IP address, is wildly insufficient for that level of penalty.
What real evidence, that would actually be accepted in a criminal court, was actually submitted, the reality none was. What little evidence was submitted was all circumstantial, and in fact no evidence at all was submitted that the defendant, as an individual, actually did what she was accused of doing. The activity of an IP address is not the activity of a person.
Of course the RIAA would argue, they could spend more in a civil court, so they deserve to win, because that is the real issue in question here, not guilt or innocence, not justice, just who could spend more in civil court on the day, a single mother with two children, or the legal arm of multi billion dollar corporations (I bet the drunken drugged up minstrels sitting in their mansions are happy with the work of their music publishers).
More likely it is statistics, more statistics and damned statistics. The average, and remember the average IQ is 100, computer user, is a two fingered typist, that reads the screen at a pace, that quite literally, wants to send computer geeks trying to provide tech support services, screaming from the room. Now if we look at executives, tennis elbow from excessive bending at those long liquid lunches is more likely.
So carpal tunnel syndrome not likely, now there is a surprise. Now lets look at the most skilled computer users coders, hmm, even there, they actually still spend much more time thinking about the code rather than actually typing the code.
That only leaves data input staff (reducing in number due to scanners and OCR or off shoring to second world countries that were excluded from the statistical count, woops) or secretaries who actually spend most of the time typing, a small percentage of computer users. Hmm, US medical insurance corporations and paid for research.
What it does miss is the full real role of a politician. They should inform themselves of the problems, find a range of solutions based upon their own knowledge and skills, as well as making use of specialist expertise and then present that to the electorate along with their own recommendation and the reasoning behind their recommendation. They should then seek feedback from the electorate and strive to achieve a majority consensus, for the most agreeable solution.
The problem with this type of electronic voting is that it will not be representative of the whole community, and will only represent a small percentage of those eligible to vote. Compulsory voting in Australian means that the government has to go out of it's way to ensure that everyone who is legally required to vote can readily do so ie. elections on a Saturday, numerous voting booths, simple clear cut manual voting, clear multi lingual instructions etc.
In this case, it specifically excludes all citizens who are not connected to the Internet, or are aware of a current vote, from participating. To be viable, a broadband Internet connection would have to be considered an essential utility, not only for the voting but also for the delivery of the information required by the citizen in order to be able to make, or a least try to make, a carefully considered judgement.
Of course geeks and nerds would end up dominating the vote, a more privacy invasive (googlites), bunch of control freaks (microsofties), you could not imagine, perhaps not such a good idea, without the Internet as an essential universal utility, after all.
A hint of an upcoming buying spree by M$ as they target a range of mid level game publishers with a diverse spread of in house game titles. The only way M$ will ever get a dominant range of xbox only game titles is to buy them, because there is one thing software developers have definitely learned, do not trust M$. So which major publishers will be the M$ targets for acquisition. Likely they will pursue the bread and butter titles, like the board game translations etc. (family gaming).
Of course AOL -> Netscape -> Mozilla -> Firefox, so not all that bad (unless of course you happen to be an IE fundamentalist);). What is happening is the web, just like computers is settling down and consolidating. For every player that is tightening their belts there will be dozens disappearing.
So for AOL Time Warner to move ahead, they will simply have to adjust their business strategies and diversify their involvement in the whole internet/computer technology arena.
A lot of companies find that adjustment difficult, M$ lose money with MSN and tried to buy yahoo and google were losing with google video and had to buy youtube amongst others. So inflated share value allows a buying spree to make up for a lack of core management skills, well, at least for a while.
It has been the same for all new industries, boats, cars, planes etc.
It would be more accurate to say that they can make the material in highly complex limited run laboratory setting but they have not yet gone onto developing mass production techniques for creating the plastic film on a large scale.
The current Australian government has shifted CSIRO's focus from working in the interest of all Australian citizens to working in the intrests of corporate profits. Where as before they would immediately have gone on to develop mass production techniques due to the obvious benefit to all Australian citizens and the rest of the world, now, there is just the drive to pass it onto corporate friends of the current administration for high profit exploitation.
So this is the marketing to sell the product on to a selected corporation for some token value, which the citizens of the three countries involved can then buy back at a greatly inflated mark up.
It is likely in the near future Australia will be shifting to nuclear power and using a substantial portion of the energy generated for quite a few desalination plants in the southern half of the country.
The difference is that between a performance artist, a mass marketing persona/band, that creates an illusory image, while the reality is nothing but ego and greed ie. drunken drugged up minstrels. The others represent musicians and creative people who really do love their work, people who live to share their musical expression of life.
What is funny is the course those that held out the longest to maximise profits, where also those that created and lived by the illusion of being rebels, of being against the man, anti-authority and pro freedom, rather than greedy, small minded , egotistical, 'copying is a stealing', accountants.
Yet another marketing illusion of my youth shattered by the reality of corporate greed and the lies of performance/bullshit artists.
Personally with their current track record, there are a whole lot of countries that will not trust the water boarding US military with an enormous energy weapon in space.
Even if you give them the benefit of the doubt, what happens when a micrometeorite damages the control systems and they accidentally fry a city, it might be clean but it is inherently very high risk.
Apple had this whole, notebook, desktop, consumer computer thing going for them. The one targeted at a music and art minded, creative people, so they did in fact have experience in that area. Google has nothing but a track record of being privacy invasive and being a habituated endless targeted marketing machine.
Also think of the inherent subconscious coolness factor, think back to your school days and remember those nosey kids that pried into everyone's personal life, the ones that nobody liked or wanted to have anything to do with, that nasty little dobbers ( http://www.australianhistory.org/australian-slang-atod.php ) that passed on your dirt to all and sundry. Well deep down, no matter how matter how much corporate profit your wrap up in it, that's all that google is, it ain't tinfoil hat stuff, it's just pathetic anal retentive stuff.
The gphone, the only phone that you will never have to program in contacts, it already 'knows' all your contacts, their nicknames, their birthdays, and for only a small additional cost, all their private dirt, be the envy of the professional paranoid, that's G-Man to you;).
In this case, you have to wonder why moveon.org would protest the adds. That a currently sitting member would focus so much attention on a political organisation and run adds against it can only help to promote brand recognition and create greater interest.
So nobody knows what an apple ipod is, especially teenagers, hmm, I don't think so. So what exactly does a search engine have to do with a consumer product, any consumer product. As for products being well know, Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer, Sharp are all very well know consumer product producers, but their phones are not winners.
Google is going to jump in a highly competitive market, with absolutely zero consumer appliance experience, or absolutely no brand recognition in that product area.
As for google marketing, everybody else has been paying for it with google ad/spam words. At the moment of course that marketing has started to give a slightly off odour as the privacy invasiveness is no longer appreciated and the tolerance for it is waning.
Another thing to point out is that the gambling itself is controlled, regulated and audited, to prevent fraud. Of course I think it is a great idea that the WTO stick in greedy little paws into the whole licenced gambling arena, as there is not another international organisation that more deserves to die.
So will the US governments pay the laughable 100 billion dollar fine (why stop there why not go for 100 trillion dollars or even more) or will the kill the WTO.
You can bet that the existing US corporations that generate billions of dollars of profits from bleeding the punters dry will never allow foreign online internet gambling.
It is not the people who are passengers of airlines that will kill the professionally paranoid power grab, it is people who invest in airlines. No standbyes to fill empty seat, cancelled flights can't be rebooked for 72 hours (free accommodation for three days), not to mention all the cancelled last minute flights.
The cost of this would likely be in the hundreds of millions to the airlines. A completely out of control politically motivated TSA, you must be afraid of terrorist all of the time, see all the precautions you have to take to be able to fly safely.
Business are going to have to relocate out of the US otherwise any urgent multinational meetings will basically take basically 10 days, 3 for the booking and 2 for the flight and repeat to escape the mad house.
If anything technically speaking it makes him look even more guilty of insider trading. It is pretty obvious that under the current US administration any actions against the politics of the administration will immediately result in, often quite public, criminal retaliation, if there is one thing this US administration has demonstrated is it's willingness to be completely shameless in it's criminal corruption.
Now of course if he has any evidence of the criminal activities of the NSA in other countries he could of course seek political asylum from what is quite likely to be an extremely harsh and of questionable survivability, prison term.

What really is happening is wikipedia is being wikipedia. It is changing, growing shrinking mutating over time. Adding new users and losing old users. Rather than building new content it is shifting into refining old content. It holds it's own unique place in the net universe, a useful site for queries on most any topic.
Perhaps it's greatest problem is that it is too useful and people are becoming to fussy and pedantic, and critical and anal and etc. Wikipedia is what it is, enjoy it and have fun.
Wikipedia certainly is not the be all and end all of Internet encyclopaedias, so people should stop trying to make it one.
Perhaps finally, eventually, the worlds universities might work together to create their own shared versions to adheres to all their rules, and leave wikipedia as the peoples encylopedia, where everybody people share and exchange knowledge, now is that really so bad.
