  1. Something More Practical ... on Planetary Defense: Protecting Earth from Asteroids · · Score: 1

How about something a little more practical: like a device to protect us from bad movies about asteroids that are going to crash into the Earth.

  2. Low Feature Phones. on AT&T Wireless Phone "Upgrades" Aren't · · Score: 5, Funny

I cannot believe AT&T are giving out simple phones. Where did they find them? All I ever see is Bluetooth, virtual laser keyboards, SMS, digital video, WiFi, 3G, a 3D video processor and flash memory.

Sales Droid: So Maam, this is our most fully-featured phone ...

Me: That's great but all I want to do is make phone calls.

Droid: Sorry! That feature was depricated last year.

    Me: What! Oh well.

  3. Re:PARCs strategy on PARC's New Networking Architecture · · Score: 1

    You claimed PARC's strategy is:

    1) Develop innovative computing paradigm
    2) Allow it to be ripped off
    3) Seem clueless
    4) Develop innovative computing paradigm
    5) Allow it to be ripped off
    6) Exploit all systems
    7) Profit

Can you give an example of PARC doing 6 and 7?

  4. Chief Hackberry, Chief Wiseberry, Chief Smartberry on TiVo Buys Super Secret Strangeberry · · Score: 1

Those names sound suspiciously like the names the Three Stooges would use.

    ie: Ziller, Zeller and Zoller
or: Mr. Onay, Mr. Amscray and Mr. Inxay.

  5. It could be worse ... really! on Microsoft to sue Mike Rowe for Copyrights · · Score: 1

Yes, folks it could be worse. What if his name was Mike Hunt?

  6. ... the world's first apartment solely lit by LEDs on Apartment Lit Solely by LEDs · · Score: 1

  7. Eddie Izzard? Dr. Who? Who is That? on Eddie Izzard As ... Doctor Who? · · Score: 1

    Hi,

Is Dr. Who still being produced? I ask because it was/is the only example of excellent writing, okay acting and poor special effects in SF TV.

  8. Re:How about the source material?! on RIAA Almost Down To Pre-Napster Revenues · · Score: 1

Tell me you instantly want to go out and buy the albums groups are hawking. The music is either pablum for the teen masses, a la Britney Spears, pseudo-intellectual neo-sensitive grunge like Creed, or mindless, repetitive breakbeats with woman singing, 'ooh, ooh baby' underneath it.

You sound like your mother: "Ding-dang rock-n-roll.?" Too loud. Where's my Engelbert Humperdinck

Actually, you sound like my mother too.

  9. Danger! Deceptive Graphs. on C Faces Java In Performance Tests · · Score: 2

    Hi,

Those graphs in the article are extremely deceptive since the y-axis does not start at zero. If they did, the curves would be much closer together. As it stands the difference between most curves is less than 30 percent and that is nothing to get your shorts and knickers all bunched up over.

Still, it was a good article even though the sample programs are a little trivial.
