  1. More than considered it, spent several hours researching and attempting it but much like cancer it grows back and is deeply rooted in the both the system and the browser.... I'd gladly do away with windows but the employer uses HR software that only runs on Windows 10 and Hotmail for required MS support purposes.

  2. Please check again, Skype is part of Internet Exploiter 11 and installed on Windows 10 by default. It cannot be uninstalled nor disabled, you can just never activate it or connect a Microsoft account to it to prevent it from initializing. I generally use Linux but I am required to keep a Windows system around for HR software and use a Hotmail account to access M$ websites for enterprise support.

  3. If you can't fix the issue then let us have the option to remove the POS. Ever since they jammed the crappy product down my throat wished I could remove it, now would be a good time.

  4. When the girlfriend on How Delivery Apps May Put Your Favorite Restaurant Out of Business (newyorker.com) · · Score: 1

When the GF decides that ordering in is a 'date' and suitable I might begin to worry. In the meantime she likes to go out to eat without the daughter and it is a special occasion, I don't see our favorite Chinese place suffering, or the steak house down the road serving everything ala-car for 50 years now. Fast food joints don't want you there already as evinced by the drive though. I also don't like eating cold food so I much prefer it at the table in the restaurant vs cold delivered to my house.

In my personal opinion it assumes far too much control. The requirement for online access is another huge FSCK'up I just want to play a cd, or rip one to my generic mp3 player it could be one and done but no you have to have a library, I OWN the cd and should not have to have it in the cloud. Like I said I've set ITunes and ICloud, and Ifart up for my GF and I was able to resolve the issues but I won't have it on my PC so 'our' music in the form of my CDS is spread between 2 machines and there is constant conflict.

I still have my que cat and yes it still reads the barcodes on my printed media library where I have everything random filed. I also still have 2 bit coins, one I bought for about $5 and one my GF gave to me. I will probably keep the unless they top 2000 again. I did buy and sell several others over the course of the last 18 months.

It doesn't matter that it came from apple, or Atari or whomever. Not using apple hardware ensured I never got wrapped up in that nightmare that is iTunes.

True that. Spain doesn't have a great track record either. Honestly the US hasn't done well either, we just seem to approach the goal in a different manner, but it is no less imperialistic or corrupt.

I love learning something new every day. My favorite is with slightly old sourdough bread. We call that French bread here. I especially like cutting out a circle and frying an egg in the hole.

Not to get too cheeky mate, but STOP trying to take over the world and we'll all go home. Germany doesn't have the best track record in that manner.

    Because they never were French.
I've never used the name French Toast either, we've always called it eggy bread, which is I believe the common English way to refer to it. In France I think they call it golden bread.
It seems by pushing for independent 'different' names France is just begging for verbal irrelevance. French used to be an important language diplomatically, but it is now sliding into disuse much like Latin is used for roman catholic mass only.

  14. There will be far fewer of them, and they will park at strategic areas determined by an algorithm and respond to requests as needed. They will likely be electric or hybrid at least so the areas will probably be near the 21K sub-stations. Note I'm still not gonna give up my car either but I would certainly ride hail to and from work or the grocery store reserving my cycle/jeep for leisure trips in my off time.

  15. But it will drastically reduce the need for parking lots and garages, increasing the space for residences and parks, and additional commercial development. Possibly reducing the cost of said property whether for good or bad...

  16. I am more than mildly color blind and I'll have to take your word as to the color of a box of cheerios, most things look what I've grown to call grey. I say grey because that is what someone told me was grey when I was in grade school long ago.

  17. HBO can't pay for better advertisement on Game of Thrones Hackers Demand Ransom (bbc.com) · · Score: 1

This is the best advertisement HBO can get. Probably a staged 'hack' intended to get more media coverage. Anyone who goes to the trouble to find this is almost certainly a watching fan already and will undoubtedly watch the download and then binge on past episodes, then watch the new stuff, posting to twitter and Facebook all the way along. I've read the song of fire and ice as well as the wildcards trust for a long time, but I've never actually seen an episode on HBO.

  18. How high is the water mama ? on Sony Will Start Pressing Vinyl Records After 28-Year Hiatus (fortune.com) · · Score: 2

Do you remember the 8 track limitations on track size/length ? It is hard to think of a more disruptive thing than the change of track in the middles of a song. I had and used 4 track reel to reel players for a long time, but 8 track really sucked all around. Cassettes were much better...

Vinyl is 'ok' but what I find amusing is most if not all vinyl is produced from a digital master so the basic 'warmth' or 'tone' argument is sort of silly.

  22. If I had a UBI I'd continue to do the desktop support I do for the old folks, but I'd quit the part time job I have at the market and spend twice the time volunteering at the library teaching retired folks and grade school kids computer literacy. In other words I'd continue working at the job I find personally fulfilling and drop the drudge work. The underlying issue is still healthcare and future retirement. Would the UBI provide enough money to pay for the health care that I need now, and how long would I receive a UBI past retirement age ? I don't look forward to eating cat food as an retired old man. Luckily I have 20+ years of paying into social security and house payment or such as of now. So if and when I can no longer work I will only have property tax, house maintenance and such very basic expenses, provided social security in some form survives.

  23. The 5th amendment gives you the right to not testify and provide proof of your own guilt through direct testimony. It doesn't give you the right to hide evidence. A more apt metaphor might be refusing to provide access to a safety deposit box, or open a home safe. Both of those can be physically forced with the right tools and a court order. If you are foolish enough to keep copious notes proving your own guilt and the prosecution can prove their existence or acquire them that is not a 5th amendment issue, but one of general stupidity. Load an app on your phone that will wipe the thing if a certain passcode is entered.

  24. Saw both. GoG2 was definitely the better of the 2 movies, but Pirates wasn't bad, and was worth the matinee price on a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn't nearly as funny as GoG2 and was predictable but I still enjoyed it. Baywatch is just plain bad, cheesy without be funny, even the Rock, whom I personally like can't save that lemon.

  25. At that cost I'd just go to the theatre, or better yet just skip the movie altogether.
