    Our local schools won't support this because it is GIRLS only. I am all for getting women involved in anything really, but sexual discrimination is sexual discrimination regardless of whether you allow only boys or only girls, or only handicaps etc...

    Individuals who are on call need to make sure they go places they are open to cell phones, much the same way they need to remain within a certain distance of their work. Why should the rest of the world suffer for these few special needs individuals ??
    My house is an AT&T black-hole anyways. I had to switch carriers after many complaints because I couldn't receive call in the back of my house. Verizon has NO SUCH problem in this area apparently.

    There are places it should be legal and my business or home is one of them.

    It becomes impossible to avoid surveillance. If you can't hide then overload the DB with volumes of irrelevant data. I make a new Safeway member card every time I shop. I create one use Hotmail accounts, sometimes 3 and 4 per day. If you could get together with a group of geographically diverse people and all agree to swap faces on a regular basis you could seriously reduce the viability of facial recognition systems all over. It is similar to adding all the NSA trigger words to the footer of your email.

    If it is so good,STOP marketing it as a meat-substitute and market it on its' own merits and strengths. I am not looking to go vegan or vegetarian for that matter but I could always use a tasty new treat. You are only taking on years of fruitless arguing by trying to 'replace' meat.

    Note : I love salads, tofu, and egg plant, but also cheese, eggs, ice cream, and BACON...

    I totally agree, I am NOT a fan of the beta, but there is a place for those comments and suggestions and it isn't in a thread about another subject. If a comment is off-topic, it is OFF-TOPIC regardless of how pertinent it is to the beta. The boycott and rational criticisms about the beta in the appropriate place will convey our feelings quite sufficiently I think.

    WD has a really cool NAS device, if your audience has a bit of tech knowledge it should be easy to get one or even 2 of the devices (backup is great) send them to 2 of your family in geographically diverse locations and presto, private cloud storage for you and the family.

    Agreed on the boycott, and on the why remove information comments made by several. I am not sure Slashdot has or was given a choice. DICE is a LOUSY company to deal with and everything they touch turn to feces. I've been hanging here for a long time and this is by FAR the worst change to come along and it ISN'T getting better but worse. Going be sad to go, but the whole point of ever being here was the community and the discussions which are both nearly impossible to use or participate in under the beta. Remember when this place was a task of love for a few editors and folks, well NOW it is a profit making endeavor and $MONEY$ is ALMIGHTY to DICE.
    Now on the stickler side, is it an EXODUS, or a DIASPORA ?

    Any cites for that so-called fact. MAC's are closed systems with a much more engineered life span than a clone PC. As stated previously no parts to be swapped any failure is the end of life for a MAC. The anomaly of MAC's upswing could be attributed to the absolute lack of any upgrade path.

    Very well said. BitCoins resemble company scrip more than any other medium of exchange. They are NOT legal tender thus no-one has to exchange them. If I had mod-points I'd use them for you...very rarely do I see an AC post worth moding up...

    No I believe in science because the results are reproducible unlike say most religious miracles.

    I can conduct most of the grand experiments in history and get the SAME results, not the same with the miracles from the bible. My couple of fish just won't feed thousands...

    The theory of relativity, the theory of evolution, the theory of causality, and theory of capitalism, all UNPROVEN, and at this time UNPROVABLE.

    Your lack of faith should not be assumed to prove or disprove anything...

    That being said I can see why so many people in Texas believe in so-called 'Intelligent Design', evolution skipped them.
