As an administrator, if I were the BOFH, I could just create a dummy DNS zone for yahoo & force all the users on my network to sign in via my own personal sign-in page capturing all their user info in the process... or as an outside attacker, do some DNS poisioning to achieve the same result.
Oh well, Symantec of course, riding on the proprietary platform of Microsloth is going to be biased.
I'm not trying to be a Symantec apologist, but they actually do use Open Source...
For instance, their firewall appliance - Symantec Gateway Security (http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/products/p roducts.cfm?ProductID=133) is built on RedHat.
As best I remember, a few of their other products are built on Linux too - but I can't be assed to go look at the moment.
I only point this out for the sake of a complete argument.
I guess I'm a little too jaded about these things, but I find it interesting that this latest round of *major exploits* hits us just as WGA is coming to bear.
I'm sure it *is* a coincidence, but I'm left wondering how many boxes will be left unpatched out of fear of WGA - or due to WGA restrictions?
wouldn't trade an OS X box for a Windows or Linux machine
Well, now - that's the problem isn't it? Maybe someday we won't have to. I've yet to get Darwin installed on any of my x86 boxes, but IMO Apple would be wise to throw some more weight behind porting OSX to x86. I'd use it in a heartbeat (currently running it on my Lombard)... however, some of us are poor and there's no way I could justify paying that much money for a machine when I could build something comparable (x86) for *far* less money. YMMV.
Why was this modded as a "troll"?? It's true, isn't it? On my desk, I have a Centris 610, which I've had for nearly 10 years. I also have a G3 Lombard, which I love to death. I'm *not* an Apple hater... but, IMO, for desktop systems, if you can't build it yourself why bother? I can build a comparable PC based system for far less money than what these things will be going for.
Actually, the antenna was meant to be attached to a CB radio... He was also going to paint the case blaze orange & embellish it with the confederate flag, ala the General Lee but he ran out of room and had to shelve the idea. I really think he should revisit the idea, though - maybe when he mods this bad boy.

...haven't we been doing this for years now? What's the big deal? I found nothing new in this article. It reminded me of one of those uber tech power point presentations you're forced to sit through every month at work... yeah, you know the ones I'm talking about. I think the fact that she admits to having a segway in her office speaks volumes to her apparent lack of anything better to do(r).
Yeah, but they can see your DNS traffic.
Don't get me wrong... I do this too, but only on a LAN / WAN that I trust.
This ought to work great with the new Skin Sensing Table Saw. Just find the terrorists & let the saw do the rest.

Shares of KY Jelly plummeted today while WD40 saw a sharp rise...

Now that's a real pisser!

I heard Gentoo was working on a new light bulb design. People could roll their own & optimize the bulb for any given socket.
Windows - insecure by design
"Well no s#it!" quipped man on the street, John Q. Slashdot.
Sorry, it doesn't take Woodward and Bernstein to figure this stuff out.

but smarter too. Seriously, though... who cares how fast they are? You can't easily build one yourself, so why bother?

Hmmmm.... power outage? Doesn't everyone run their VCR through a UPS??
