See, that is why I love my generation. By the time we get retirement age, we will still probably be playing video games. And then when that happens, look out MMRPGS. You think a college student has some free time? He has to go to class. I just have to remember to wake up in the morning.
And there are the grandkids. He/she may have the speed and reflex's, but lets see that compared to my 40+ years of experience.
"Mommmm, tell grandpa to killing my guys"
You can have it another way around, i.e. having 3D environments and characters but you view everything in a 2D plane. The best, and I think really the one true example of this is Viewful Joe for the gamecube. Using this system allows you have the best of both worlds: 3D environments that allows for a lot of creativity/expression, and has the precision and control of 2D gaming.
Another example of 3D environment with 2D play style that I think really works is the battle system in Tales of Symphonia. Everything happens in a 3d environment, but when you target an enemy you face that enemy on a linear plane. You can only move forward, backward or jump. The camera is always a decent distance from the monsters on screen, allowing you to be aware of all the other monsters. Want to doge an attack? Switch to another monster, refocusing the linear plane your character is on. This technique is actually key in order to dodge the effects of some of the higher level spells later in the game.
"Why shouldn't the companies stop putting copy protection on games? I don't see these "legitimate users" threatening to boycott games with Safedisc on it. How many here have sent written letters through snail mail to their publishers saying they won't buy any more games with Safedisc on it?"
Obviously you've never been on a forum on the release date of any game in the past three years.
Well, no, your missing the point of parent's statement. Any user can sit down and just pound the keyboard with their anger about copyright protection. Hell, you see that kind of crap here on slashdot. It takes litle to no time at all to do and in some cases no thought. But how many people who actually have a problem with the copyright protection take the time to write a real honest to god pen and paper letter to the developer/publisher?
Actually, this leads me to an interesting legal question. If I own the original NES carts to the games being re-released (and I do) does this mean I can legally use a gba NES emulator and dump the re-released NES game onto a single flash rom cart?
Sell it to your friends or co-workers who want to play the gamecube only Final Fantasy game with other people. The only way to play that game with more then one person is for each person to use the gba as a controller. Paying $60-70 for a piece of hardware just to play one game with you friends is a little hard to handle, but maybe paying something like $20 to $30 (plus $10 the gba to gamecube connector) would be a lot easier on the wallet. Besides, I would gladly pay $20 to $30 bucks carry around a non-back light portable SNES.
Uhhh Does the new RTCW offer a 24/7 server that is scanned and taken care by the company itself? Is ID releasing new patches with content/skill changes for a game that is over three years old (Diablo 2)? At this point Blizzard is the only company I buy games from because I know that the cd-key and content of the game are worth something. And to that effect, they keep up and take care of the games once it is release. And trust me, the expansion will require it own cd key. They had that model working since the expansion for Diablo 2 came out, or hell, maybe even with broodwar.

No, No, No, if hell was really frozen over the Diablo 2 1.10 patch would be out. 1.5 years and counting.
