I am just about to leave university in the UK (Computing for real time systems not maths) The question they show on there I can answer in my head hardly thinking about it. Its stuff we covered year 8 (I was 11 years old for you guys in the US no idea what that equates to in your system) It makes me worried what has happened to the school system in the last few years. Even the first years at uni are struggling badly at the moment, our lectures keep going on about a failure in the education system. There was comments about failing them all, but I think funding considerations were taken into account and they all got extensions. If a student drops out in the first year the university has to give back the extra money they got from the government so they like people to get past the first year before dropping out. It really is quite worrying hearing some of the questions they ask some times. So yeah the education system over here has gone down the pan pretty rapidly as far as I can tell.
I know where your coming from with the watching movies thing. Found VLC to be very useful in this, it loads up the main menu as the first thing it does. Effectively skipping all the marketing humph at the beginning of the disk
There is a small problem with this though. I have been there, its so far out of the way its silly. Its not in the kind of place you could ever just pop in to for a coffee. People only go there for the visitors centre, or when they realise its raining over the Lizard (Most southerly point in the uk)
IIRC the place has been having lower and lower visitor numbers for years, so it pretty much is a publicity stunt.

Someone very board at uni should try and do a study in to this effect because it is so true. If they can find out a way of generating this though they will have to be killed because it will put every tech support guy/girl out of a job.

and what he said about moving them, they would have to gain more energy from moving them than would be lost. other wise what would be the point?
other than that if these things gave out more energy or they gave more energy for a resionable gain in weight (i have no idea what a reasonable gain in weight would be for a mars lander)
the problem with diablo is the point click die effect.
a simple thread of a game
point click die, point click die, point click die, point click die, ohh it dropped a better weapon/ some gold, point click pick up item, point click die die die.
I know the feeling i have still got one of their mp3 players, its great as long as its sitting on a desk. as soon as you start to move it things go to pot. I am not talking about shocks either(it seems to be able to handle slight shocks fine), mostly its from magnetic things, walking through automatic doors casues almost every time a stop and then you need to turn it off and wait for the thing to reboot.
