There is a series of fine lines that divides shooting one's self in the foot, blowing one off with a shotgun, and stepping on a landmine, taking the whole leg. SCO has jumped straight into the landmine portion with this.

No, it is not just you. I don't think that MicroSucks would even stoop to a level of condemning someone for what they invented which they currently sell. You never hear about how Microsoft condemns everyone that ever sold them software, now do you?

Man, I had thought that SCO was losing it.. but this shows that they have totally and completly lost their minds. they are criticizing linus torvalds for not being keen on intellectual property rights when he is one of the biggest proponents of open source?? What is the world coming to?

Well, in most cases where you pay a month by month subscription fee, the fee goes into more better servers, and constant refinement of the game. That being said, as long as some portion of the fee goes toward that, and the servers aren't too laggy, then I really don't mind having to pay a fee.

  8. Will it be Buggy? on Star Wars Galaxies - Release Date Announced · · Score: 1

Right after launch, probably.. but then again, i haven't seen anything launch that wasn't buggy at first. Besides, this is Sony and LucasArts that we're talking about, so more than likely they'll have a patch or two out within a week of the launch to fix most of the bugs. As far as whether the launch will be a wreck like AO? Nah, there is way to many diehard geeks who want nothing more than to run around with a lightsaber or two and hack people up.. Myself Included, of Course.

If you look back at the history of invention, then you'll find that every major invention was invented in the spirit of "if i do this, then i'll either get totally rich" or "it would be really cool to do this". People rarely ever invent something with the explicit intent to make an earthshattering breakthrough which will benefit mankind forever.

Having read thru the article, I think that this individual wanted nothing more than to Rant on for a couple of pages about how all of the current group of top notch inventors do nothing but make devices to make technology a little bit more personalized. Insofar as the Rant on 3G phones go, they only really take notice of sales of the devices in the UK, which has nothing to do with their sales in other places where the phones were received extremely well, like japan and some places in Central Europe, like Germany. In short, this seems to me like nothing more than a rant against extravagance in technology due to the fact that the author thinks that the time would be better spent trying to improve the life of the impovershed.

Actually Bittorrent is the ultimate answer to a good, oldfashioned /.ing, but it only really thrives off of it once it has been fully seeded, and then only if enough people who can seed it will get out and share a little with the rest of the deprived, slightly behind the times group of people like myself who wait to hop on to a file.
