The problem is that String Theory (or M-theory or Brane Theory, whatever) is a bunch of mathematical models that are cool if you have 11 dimensions, so you have to hand wave about where those 7 dimensions went.
And yet after 20 years of mathematical masturbation, I've yet to see any single prediction from the mathematical models that can be tested.
Not one.
That's not Science folks, that's theoretical mathematics. Which is a perfectly valid academic field, just don't call it physics.
Bottom line, get an unlocked develoopers handset unless you want the cell company and/or Google to tell you what you can and can't run on THEIR hardware.
I cofounded a company last year and we decided to use Office 2007 since we're consulting with clients.
Wow it's been bad. Office 2007 has been a nightmare (endless bugs--crashing when accepting revisions, randomly moving to the top of the document as I'm paging through it, etc.), and interoperability with clients hasn't been as important as we thought.
You misspoke. If the world didn't need oil, the ME wouldn't have the money and power to be a threat. 9/11 might just as well happened--bin Laden's excuse is that he didn't like US troops on the Arabian peninsula. However, he cut his teeth against us in Somalia (no oil there) and against the Soviets in Afghanistan (no oil there either).
Some people argue that Bush has violated civil rights, some argue otherwise. My point (and I was keeping it non-partisan) was that Kucinich is perceived as a nutjob, and unless he has someone with him who isn't perceived as a nutjob, it's not going anywhere.
This has no chance of going anywhere. Why is this on the front page? Kucinich is perceived as a nutjob by the vast majority of the United States. Why should we care what he thinks or introduces in the House?
Wow! You're an orphan of the Talisman project? I remember seeing the hype from that on the eve of my Uni graduation. I then went on to work at Intel, working on chip design tools.
No surprise, the hardware guys looked down on the software guys from a QA perspective. Probably because it's a lot harder to patch hardware once it's in the field, and software guys have a hard time learning that lesson.
John Lott (author of More Guns, Less Crime visited the UK to talk about gun control. To start his talk, he showed a front page story about a drive by shooting the previous day even though guns were banned.
Alternatively, philanthropic organizations could pay for the treatment of people in need, without confiscatory levels of taxes. That way both compassion and property rights can work together.
CFLs are just another small way that we can all use less energy. They are not a cure-all.
They're not a cure-anything, frankly. If we replaced all incandescents in the US with CFLs, it would make a trivial dent in energy consumption. Current growth would outstrip any savings in hours or days.
Oh well, those who wants fascism will probably get it:
I for one am glad to see legislation forcing
I for one am sad to see one more piece of freedom being chipped away.
Having watched about a dozen of them, I have to say they're easily on par with MST3K. Lucky me, I married a woman who also loves MST3K, and we watch these together.
The sad thing is, the single player campaign is easily cracked to play on XP (at least on some machines). It obviously doesn't need DX10. But Windows Live (for multiplayer) requires Vista. At least, I don't know if anyone has gotten that to work on XP.
That's actually not true. There is a great body of artwork by Muslims depicting Mohammad. It's only a small part of Islam that forbids it. The same kind of nutjobs that blow up centuries-old statues for their crazy beliefs.
This would immediately impose a massive increased financial risk on all online servies, perhaps even making them more expensive than they're worth. My first guess is that all the nice convenient services would be shut down immediately.
Right, that's why they hired Herb Sutter as a software architect, right? You know, the Herb Sutter who is the chair of the ISO C++ standards committee.
Frankly, the extensions to handle GC are some of the best (and yes, innovative) additions to C++ I've seen in a while, and make C++/CLI the most versatile.Net language IMO. I hope they make similar innovations in the area of threads (something Sutter has been talking about for years now).
You need to read up on the case. They collected the shell casings because that's what they always do, and their two supervisors were present and assisting in collecting the casings. The report they're supposed to file is an oral report to the supervisors.
If that were you, would you think you'd have to orally submit a report later, even though your supervisor was there collecting casings with you?
Not to mention that the claim to congress that they had said they were "going to shoot some mexicans" has now been admitted as false (yep, HS lied to congress). Oh, and both Ramos and Compean are of Mexican descent, as are their wives.
[Burning Karma]

Except last I heard the dev handset doesn't allow you to install any copy-protected apps.

I can't wait to use 3.0 in the office.
Criminals in the UK can get guns also. And?
The mentioned hypothesis could easily be tested by applying a magnetic field to cows and noting how they react.
Surely any "scientist" performed this test before the news release? Or did the "scientist" just decided that a bunch of pictures was worth mentioning?
This goes along with the other videos that are obviously green screens that showed up a few years ago.

Perhaps you missed this announcement?

Yes, they're just light bulbs. And the US federal governement has no power to regulate them.

Yes it did, and the RiffTrax of it is awesome.
Perhaps because the built-in "block content" feature is excellent, so no add-on is necessary?
If only getting from LEO to geosync was that easy.

Does the consumer win in that case?

Okay, but that post was from 8 months ago. Anything lately?
