    It is still mandatory to learn how to use a circular slide rule when training for private pilot license in many countries. Not sure about the US though ( took my PPL in Florida, but on the UK syllabus). I think its great fun doing calculations on it! Here's a pic of it: http://flickr.com/photos/kalleh/458254643/

    Agree. This might be news for nerds, but it surely ain't stuff that matters. Editors, please start giving us articles with actual depth to discuss so we can all actually learn something.

    I also noticed they promote downloading it through mirrors. EVERONE knows mirrors are bad security (especially mirrors with numeric ip addresses! http://blogs.msdn.com/ptorr/archive/2004/12/20/327 511.aspx :P

    One ad can simply state: "No pop up ads. EVER" with the firefox logo and link to download it. Another ad could highlight the best, most useful extensions. I think the weather update/forecast extension would be perfect for this.
    Yea, and then they could put the advertisement in a pop-up ad on the NYT website.

    I know for sure this happened to a Swiss Airlines SAAB 340 when the instructor tried to show the student it was impossible to retract the gears on the ground.

    If they can fit a G5 inside that box we should be seeing powerbook G5's soon. The heat issue with the G5 seems to be solved.

    I was under the impression that GSM is encrypted by default. I even recall a story where the KGB requested russion operators to cancel encryption in their networks to be able to tap the maffia. Anyone?
