True, however, Creative was releasing mp3 players far before Apple, and their mp3 players were on the market using their now-patented interface before the patent was even filed for (again, RTFA). Im not saying that what you propose isnt possible, simply that it doesnt look likely (at least to me). Regardless, saying that apple *obviously* held prior art to the patent is utter bullshit.

Creative said it had applied for the patent, dubbed the Zen Patent, on 5 January 2001 and was awarded it on 9 August..."The Apple iPod was only announced in October 2001, 13 months after we had been shipping the Nomad Jukebox based upon the user interface covered by our Zen Patent."

If you had RTFA you would know that creative applied for the patent *before* the ipod was even released, so no, creative did not rip off apples interface

First off, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is perhaps the greatest game of all time.

Second, Lucas Arts has released a bunch of their old games on cd (or at least fate of atlantis, cause thats how i own it) and you can get them on their website. The only downside is that your paying like 20 bucks for a game that came out forever ago.

I talkled to one of the reps from the people who produce NEDO at Robonexus (a large robotics confrence in Santa Clara, CA) a few months ago. Ultimately, the technology they use in developing the robots they are making now will be used for useful purposes, IE, the military or around the home. However, as of now there is no demand for this, so the keep the money flowing in, they create the robots for demo purposes. They also have sold the bipedal human robots to universites for research purposes. Just because something doesnt have an immediate use doesnt mean that the technology behind wont be useful some day.

Ok yeah, I'm guessing this story is a load of bullshit, but here goes anyway. If you selling Christian music and proud of it I am going to venture a guess that you are fairly christian yourself. Doesnt your idea defy christian values by saying "one strike and your out". Did not Jesus teach us to forgive eachother? Two, its not that hard to copy books over the internet...end of story. Three, piracy is not the reason that your store is failing. A kid is buying a record from you store to put on the internet, but you kick him out. YOU caused that sale not to happen. YOU lost yourself 15 bucks or however much that record was. Think about it.

I think that this was said above that its not that people oppose open source, I mean, its kinda a hard thing to oppose, I dont think that there are people (other than those who have something financially or politically to lose) who are gonna come out saying that there should be no open source, thats just dumb. However, I do think that there will always be politicians opposing it because they do get campaign funding from companies such as Microsoft and are in a position to lose it if open source becomes too widely used.

If youve got a local shop try to bring them into it somehow. Many of the local LANs around here have some sort of sponsorship or help from a local shop. On tech support I would guess that anyone who would be coming to a LAN would know enough to keep their stuff up and running, but just in case have a few guys there who know what they are doing. If you can get a hold of a large confrence room in a hotel power shouldnt be too much of a problem im guessung, but it doesnt hurt to have a back up if you can get one.
