    If you want to get an entry level job, leave out the part about the masters and say you were in jail for 2 years. It would work better than you think. But seriously, I'm very surprised that EVERY company you talked to took such a negative view of your situation. Sure, its only the last few years that matter in the tech industry, but it sounds to me like you're pretty well qualified, especially if you can get a good reference from the last company you worked for.

God, I wish this Blu Ray mess would just go away so people can start buying the more realistic alternative. Who wants a DVD player that is so crippled they can't even watch anything on it?

    Failing that, steal a security screener's uniform and badge. Your terrorist buddies can get in line at your lane where you are able to ignore the stuff in their bags. I'm really surprised it hasn't been attempted yet. Hell, it probaby wouldn't be too hard for a terrorist group to get one of their operatives hired on as a screener. The only real qualification is being able to pass a basic criminal background check.

    Most Americans support invasive security measures to protect themselves from terrorists. That is the facts. Any politician who is even rumored to be "soft on terror" will not stand a chance at reelection. This is why the anal-probe level of security will not be going away anytime soon.

    True. I wish high speed rail would become a reality in the United States. The first step would be removing the broken-beyond-repair disaster known as Amtrak so that a competent agency can take their place. Currently, politics prevents passenger rail in the U.S. from being anything but a miserable failure.

    It makes about as much sense as that time when I saw a PILOT going through airport security shortly after 9/11 and the screener morons were taking his nail scissors. If a pilot wants the plane to go down, its going down.

    That is why they were granted the warrant: to see if there is useful information on the video. They had probable cause to get the warrant (seeing him filming near the protests). Nobody's rights are being violated here, this is just a run-of-the-mill protecting protesters case where some kids makes himself out to be a victim. They should charge him with felony obstruction of justice. Get over yourself Slashdot, this is NOT a "your rights online" paranoia-fueled big government tin foil hat case!

Be sure to include the amount from your attorney bills, or if you act as your own attorney, the amount of the damages the RIAA was awarded against you.

    All well and good, but try getting a judge and jury to believe any of these arguments. Nobody would feel sorry for this guy, hence no damages for attorney fees. Yes, that's the way it really works. Technicalities and legal hairsplitting don't always hold up.

    Cities get sued all the time. You are full of shit. If they could never be sued, police could do whatever the hell they wanted with no fear of a lawsuit or anything. Also, why do government entities spend a lot of money on liability insurance if they could never be sued?

    It wouldn't be illegal at all, but you would get the privilege of paying thousands of dollars to defend yourself. And no you wouldn't be able to sue for attorney fees since you set up the files for the purpose of baiting a lawsuit.
