    We have NEVER had even close to a multi-billion year run of stable climate here on Earth. Why assume other planets do? It is entirely possible that no one gets much past where we are before the next asteroid/global warming/global cooling/huge volcano/Godzilla attack or whatever.

    Until WE do it I would think assuming others can do it is a bit silly. What if they are 98% as smart as us and their rockets blow up? What if they don't give a shit about flying in space? What if they all nuke themselves back to the stone age? Maybe we are the only ones to not play WW III when we get nukes? Maybe they are all a bunch of smart marine animals that can sing and do sonar like a mensa-whale but can't build anything? Maybe they did show up here and thought WE were a bunch of dangerous nutters and have a WARNING STAY OUT beacon on outer-space channel 11 set up on Pluto?

    TOTAL FAIL We are pretty smart - we made atom bombs and robots and all kinds of toys. So far faster-than-light travel totally eludes us. There literally could be 10,000 planets with 10,000 Einsteins per planet in our hood and no one is going anywhere.

    I also did some things that I won't be detailing here, but all this stuff would have YOU put someplace really bad if you did it today. What I learned the hard way - you need friends and you need to regarded as dangerous.

    +1 I used to be a flight instructor. My students were engineers and IT guys. They had $$$ and I had none. Now I am one of them and the Pointy Haired Bosses are whining like a dog being told to drive someplace with Mitt Romney about the "shortage" so they can h1B the IT world into airline like slave wages :(

    I ordered my SIM straight from the web site and they mailed it to me ;) I got my phone from FleaBay. They do have TracFones, but that isn't ALL they do.

    I had no interaction at all with WalMart. Does Walmart own Straight Talk? Not that I care really. Also they are NOT only Trac-Phones. You can use ANY phone you want to that takes their SIM card. The SIM card I got is on AT&T. They resell AT&T bandwidth.

    http://www.straighttalk.com/ Get the AT&T network SIM - pay $45/month - use your own phone. I got this for my son and so far it has worked fine. It is supposed to be unlimited, but as usual that really means about 2 GB/month. NO contract. You can drop it anytime. I have both AT&T and Verizon phones now (work and home) and honestly they each have an area where the other one works better. Sprint and T-Mobile are not good out in the countryside.

    If I come up behind your group and you all move to single file, I will patiently wait for a safe spot to pass and give you as much room as I can. If you insist on being a rolling roadblock, not so much........ If you do what this idiot did yesterday, you will be lucky to live. He was going slow in my lane. Well OK no real room to do anything else, so I'll play along at 10 MPH or less. Road is widening now and he is moving right. I got left and speed up and he TURNS HARD LEFT with NO signal. Lucky to be alive that one!

    When you block my way, one tiny miscalculation on my part will kill you and maybe dent my car. Doesn't sound smart. I learned a long time ago not to pick fights with people you can't hurt. Are you maybe one of the fucktards that rides 3 abreast on a narrow two lane road at about 1/3 the speed limit? Our local rednecks will cure you of that habit right quick.

    I nearly hit a girl that totally ignored the STOP sign where the bike lane went across the road, didn't even look or slow down, got nailed by a car, launched about 12 feet in the air, and landed right in front of me. Never mind all traffic lights and signs are totally optional apparently.

    Leesburg Radio, this is N123 on 122.6 MHz. What is the temperature and wind direction at 18,000 feet over DCA? N123 this is Leesburg Radio. We have no clue. We launched a balloon this morning and we think it landed near Ocean City. Can you go help look for it?

    As a commercial pilot, I can tell you the balloons are VERY much in use and valuable right now. There is no "lessening" going on!

    Bullshit! They bought satellite spectrum and tried to re-purpose it for terrestrial use. There is a reason that spectrum was NOT to be used for ground level transmissions.

    I look at it as parent-child. God the parent left gum, candy, Playboy magazines, IPods, a few XBOX 360s, and machine guns in the play room and told the kids DO NOT TOUCH THIS STUFF and went to the store. Human nature being what it is - and guess who designed THAT - the kids were all over it. The "parent" then burns the house down with the kids inside it pour encourager les autres.
