In any case - undercover cops aren't cost effective for catching small time criminals.

And another factor with wireless is the limited bandwidth. When too many are using wireless at the same time in the same location things slows down considerably.

Even if you have 100Mbps but you share it with 20 people you may end up with 5Mbps. Wireless is also sensitive to electric noise, which makes things worse.

So wired networking will be the primary alternative even in the future. Especially considering that the applications we run today require more and more bandwidth.

Quite the opposite - once it's figured out who's behind it the penalty will be hard. And I would hate to have permanent potheads around on the roads. There are enough stupid people on the roads these days, and we don't need them to be stoned stupid.

And I would call that a new low - is there any way we can moderate down articles? People genetically altered to be potheads is incredibly stupid.

If they did find a way to alter people to no longer be receptive to THC and other similar substances, and also completely allergic to nicotine then we would have something that could let us get rid of all smokers. Let it be distributed through a virus like the flu virus and we can be pretty sure to get rid of all potheads and smokers.

Just continue and render other illegal drugs ineffective too and the world may be a better place.

And so was the Windows 3.x desktops. Add to that the Palm pilot which originated back in '96.

Of course - Apple did have desktop icons already back in their first Mac and the predecessor Lisa.

But all this was grandfathered by the Xerox Alto from '73 but even that was based on experiences from the SAGE Project and the Sketchpad. As you can read from History of the graphical user interface.

So I would say that Apple can stick it, and that if this case is dismissed (as it should be) they have lost a lot of credibility and future cases will be a lot harder.

Add to the fact that the behavior of the devices is likely to be different. An icon is just a small picture, and the layout of icons in that way has been around since at least the Program Manager in Windows (with provisions for screen shape).
