Here in Sweden non-metric nuts and bolts are on special order only unless you happen to find an odd hardware store that actually stocks imperial sizes.
But you can get just about any variant in metric form.
And you can't find cast iron pipes anymore where I live, it's all ABS. But I don't see that as a bad problem since the plastic pipes are less prone to corrosion. And all are metric here except for some threading which are around in imperial units for historical reasons.
The US has changed role today from being a leader in tech products to being the leading consumer of tech products. Everything is today outsourced except farming and people working in the mall selling products made in China and other countries.
How often do you really see a technological device made in any western world country at Wal-Mart? Or even clothing? Maybe you will find a rake or fertilizer and some food. Items that definitely are low-tech.
And what about references to various religious texts? Jesus was born, Moses crossed the red sea, David has slain Goliath... And even older - Yellowstone Volcano erupted 600 000 years ago. Meteorite killed dinosaurs 65 million years ago...
At least one of above must have been on slashdot...
No different from being in a prison then - except that in a prison the guards don't give a crap if your heartrate exceeds 70bpm.
And there is nothing to stop the terrorists from sending in a few decoy people that has a very annoying behavior just to numb the minds of the TSA people. In a chaotic situation it's a lot easier to slip under the radar.
One person complaining loudly about the scan/pat-down, another messing up the metal detector by acting very distracted a third with a weird bag that gives suspect shadows on the X-ray, a fourth that has a bag that "accidentally" leaks some sticky substance into the X-ray machine. Add a person as clumsy as Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther films and you will get all agents distracted for several minutes while the queues builds up with stressed people.
Thanks - now I'm sure that I won't buy any game at all, seems to be safer to download any game I would like to play from just about any random site regardless of the malware risk.
I'm happy that I have my HP 15C. I also have a 41CV.
Just too bad that HP decided to stop making the 15C, it has a great format, is competent and is easy to use. A modern version with more memory, a micro SD card slot and a faster processor would be sufficient. No reason to add any additional math functions.
It always comes back to "it's impossible", "can't be done" and so on, then someone does it in an unexpected way and the rest of the world stands there looking stupid.
Even if it looks mathematically impossible using regular math you may end up with a great solution using an unexpected approach on math - or you will need to develop the math after the fact has been proven.
That could be if it was possible to run the JavaScript at/. multi-threaded. However multiple Adobe Flash animations on web pages will certainly benefit from this.
However one thing that may improve is to dedicate a core for the network processing which would make it easier to write a smoother GUI handling on the other threads. The user interface on the phones of today with all the flashy animations etc. often has a rather bad performance, and maybe this could help it a bit.
I agree, what he does is to keep a high profile with stunts like these, but it really improves the brand when he is involved in things that is more than just the usual TV commercial. Anyone can do a CGI with a fantasy these days using a pile of money, but putting that money into an event where you are actually achieving something real - or make a difference - then you do both your brand and the others involved a favor.
The submarine will hopefully provide additional knowledge.
Don't worry about the evil robots, worry about stupid robots and sabotage where some prankster messes with the systems that the robot car driver is using to keep the vehicle on the road.
GPS interference, re-painted lines on the road etc.

Not steel pipes, cast iron pipes.

Please stand on your head, it will read 6/6/66.
And politicians - where do they fit in?
Tigers lives in the forest, not on the plains, you won't see the tiger until it's five meters away.

Hand me a stargate and I'll dial.
I just need to get hold of Jack O'Neill first.

Personally when I find something that isn't falling under any other issue I do an "Interesting" or "Overrated" mod on it.
Let's say that that battle is over, but the war isn't over.
When you are doing datacom at high bandwidth it starts to get into the realm of where more processing power is useful.
Try Windows instead - that sucks...

Good example of good intentions that sometimes goes wrong,
Probably one of the more realistic Geek Engineer characters that exists in comics.
Another exists in the Swedish Comic Magazine Bamse, the turtle Skalman. The magazine is for small children.
But don't forget the TV comic Dexter's Laboratory.
And then we have Willie Garvin in the comic Modesty Blaise.
But nothing is useful until we have an end user; The weird end user of technology Wile E. Coyote.
I foresee various loopholes around this - like offshoring all the web shops - or maybe it's enough to offshore the login services.
Railroad tracks are defined to be 2 horse asses wide, which actually has a history back to the Roman empire.

"There are no failures, just more data".
It all comes down to who watches the watchmen.
I don't even trust myself, so how am I going to trust a CA?
8 megapixels is nothing special, what is interesting is if the sensor can provide good pictures.
You can get great pictures with a 4 megapixel sensor. The noise level of the sensor and the optics is a lot more important.
Working on it... Just look at Afghanistan, Iraq and now Libya... Some countries are even good at it by themselves...
