    What would be horrible would be if the Microsoft Certificate server was compromised allowing anyone to create certificates in the name of Microsoft using their private key.

    On the other hand - if that happened we wouldn't be told because it would compromise every Windows computer out there.

    Most of them are mutations of known malware, so it makes sense to try to classify them into different families of malware.

  7. A carrier should not tie to a phone brand. Being a carrier is to provide a service and as long as the device is conforming to the standards it should not be a problem.

  8. This means that the driver might have lost his intelligence completely, maybe he was sick or suicidal, maybe he was on drugs.

    Nonetheless the car should have pulled over and stopped with all warning flashers on and if the driver hadn't reacted to that then called for emergency services.

    If the city owns the fiber then they can rent it out to which ever operator that is interested in that area. Even two competing operators.

    The ones complaining the most about towns and cities running their own fibers are the ones that want to control the consumers the most.

    However it's way too late to disable it, and a better alternative would be to make a mod to XP to fix it.

    I had to disable SMBv1 to make my Windows 7 connect to my Samba server. Seems like Samba was ahead of the game there.

    How do you know that?

    That's what the air ticket sellers have done for a long time now. It has been proven that if you shop around for best price then they use cookies to track that you do that and you almost never get any better price than you got at the first site.

    And even if you have an AI you need to tell it what you expect. It won't do if you expect to get a car but gets a toaster.

  24. Everyone screws up now and then, most often small, sometimes big. There's sometimes a small screw-up where you accidentally reboot the wrong server. Once is just an oops. It's when people screw up frequently and tries to get away with it you should bury them somewhere safe or remove them. If they admit their mistake then it's better to work on salvaging the pieces and patch together the remains or recover from a backup.

    Companies that don't have backups that they test - they are toast as it doesn't even have to be a mistake that causes the need for a backup, it can as well be a hardware failure or thunderstorm.

    I run an Asterisk server and have a blacklist of over 2000 numbers by now.
