  1. SCOX down nearly 20% on the week on SCO Calls IBM Countersuit "Unsubstantiated Allegations" · · Score: 1

I just noticed the weekly round up of this weeks big losers.

    Here the list

I am not clever enough to have a sig.

  2. Re:You're not seeing the point on ZigBee Low-Power Wireless Networking · · Score: 1

Don't forget glucose sensors under your skin and pacemakers.

  3. Re:Will it replace iR? on ZigBee Low-Power Wireless Networking · · Score: 1

It does take more power to drive the LEDS than it would be taking to transmit the required power for a short distance (say 10 meters)

  4. Security Patches on Desktop Linux Sliding in Under the Radar? · · Score: 1

Isn't there a problem with getting windows users to update their machines? Everywhere I have worked they never have put in the security patches.

Wasn't there a virus the used this knowledge??

  5. MMORPG & Internet shopping and email classes on What Should a Community Computer Lab Offer? · · Score: 1

I have seen several companies that offer MMORPG time at a cost. It seemed quite reasonable since you pay for what you use not the nasty monthly payment.

As far as classes, email would be great for a small touristy town. Everyone should be able to stop by and say hello to a friend. Also I think there are many opportunities for shopping on line. Teach them everything from amazon to ebay.

    Good luck

  6. Are you sure he doesn't work for the RIAA on Russian Minister Gets Spammed, Spams Back · · Score: 1

That sounds like some tactic the RIAA would use. Maybe they were really offering him free music and he decided to call and send them fake or virus infected music over the phone.

Anyhow, maybe the RIAA are russian politicians... go figure :)

    Me.

  7. Movie piracy is not victimless? on MPAA to Launch Anti-Piracy Commercials · · Score: 1

Don't they all get payed by some contract or even if they are back stage people they would get payed hourly. How much of the millions of dollars a movie makes really goes to these people?

I don't think they are the victims of movie piracy. They will get their paycheck just by showing up at the door. The theaters will lose some people (maybe)... but if they come out with a good show I would go to the theater to watch it.
The victims are the companies like paramount disney sony who make millions of dollars on one movie. I know Spider Man made Sony more money than many of their electronic devices did last year.

  8. Great for thesis work also on Is Latex Still Worth Learning? · · Score: 1

I just finished writing my thesis and LaTeX was the easiest way I could find to a large number of pages. I got sick of other programs dying/crashing/some other extreme in the middle of a paper. With LaTeX the most complicated UI I used was emacs. They also have pseudo WYSIWYG editors for it so it can almost be like writing with other word processors. The hardest part is when there is no template for the work you are doing. It takes a lot of work to format a page by hand. If you can find the right template (many schools have latex templates that format your document exactly as needed) you don't have to touch a thing and the document looks great. Good luck!!

  9. Re:$900? on Senator Orrin Hatch a Pirate? · · Score: 1
