Again Java works...And C# will become adopted by *nix right as microsoft flexes its copyright/patent portfolio and destroys all things unix

I heard enough of this stupid bickering. I think C# was fun to code in but it doesn't make it the best programming language there is. But hey if someone wants to extend C# /.NET to linux more power to them. I will probably even use it in linux.

The only question I have is, if it is really better than other programming languages/systems (so they say)...(Assuming Microsoft doesn't destroy all who use it) Wouldn't it be wise to have a linux implementation of it. Isn't linux about having a choice. If I said you all have to KDE we would see the same "mindless bashing" again.

I first used a Netgear WG311 54g. I found the driver from the madwifi group on sourceforge. It was not very easy to set up. I added the modules to /etc/modules.conf and then in the network startup scripts I created one for ath0 (the atheros chipset) Made it static ip and told it the wireless routers ip as a gateway. It magically worked then.

The newer ones use the XTERASYS XN-2522 card which is much much cheaper. They use the prism54 drivers and in their forums they have some good steps for setting their driver up in mandrake 9.2. Good luck

I don't think the final %20 percent is worth another $600. I could possibly imagine paying $300-$400 for it. I agree that C#/.Net is not the most advanced platform. BUT, I don't think it is just another fad. I can search countless websites with information on how to use C#. I feel it has cleaned up a lot of the nastiness of Java. It is not the perfect language (That would be PERL ;) )but I find it very EASY to use and understand. My father-in-law, who only programmed in C before has picked up C# and is really enjoying it.

There may be issues with microsoft calling and saying all C# derivatives are ours. I am sure C# will not be a core element of the Linux Kernel. I think it is an easy way to program and create a GUI.

I can't wait for the day the program I create on windows runs on linux without a recompile/rewrite. And I can't stand programming in Java. I started Java about 5 years ago and it never has been a favorite. It is portable but the way the VM works it is very bloated. I don't know how mono implements the interpreter but I do know that windows will run the program once and do a machine compile. You will be able to rerun that again and again without having to reinterpret the code. (unless you shutdown )
