  1. Late nite on 10 Years of Half-Life · · Score: 3, Funny

I was newly married and this game kept me up to all hours. My wife would come into the basement at 3 am and reprimand me.

I've notices hl2 for original xbox used at gamestop and I hesitate to buy it. It may take over my nights again - and i have three kids now.

  2. Been using the free version for months on Google Apps Premier Edition Launches, Widely Used · · Score: 3, Informative

I've been using the free version for months for my small business and it has been awesome. We are a growing company and I think the free version will suite our needs for many years. There are some additional features I'd like to see but they keep on adding more so I expect them in the near future.

We have two locations and this helps bridge the gap between the offices ( I also use Hamachi for remote connectivity)

So far we use gmail, cal and just starting to use docs and spreadsheets.

  3. I have been struggling with this for a month!! on VPN Solutions for Small/Medium Businesses? · · Score: 1

I have a very small business with three locations (one is my home). The ISP connection varies some are Comcast some are Verizon residential DSL.

As I see it I have three problems. 1. The IP address will be dynamic from the ISP's and 2. Most of the PC's are running Win XP home 3. Would prefer a no cost solution

I would like to be able to remote desktop (ie contral/access) any pc from any location.

I have successfully installed http://hamachi.cc/ Hamachi to address the dynamic IP issue but am working on the XP Home issue (ie. RD server only in XP Pro). I recently downloaded http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/ UltraVNC but I'm lost after the installation. What do you application do you use to start the desktop sharing.

Most of the PC's are behind a Linksys router some are behind a Linksys router then linksys wireless router.

I've played with dyndns.org and no

I'm not a CCNE but I'm no schlub any help would be appreciated.

  4. Re:Just replaced my palm with a treo phone on Pen-Based PDA Market on Death Bed · · Score: 1

I'm a big graffiti user (and palm user) starting with the Palm III. I switched over to the Treo almost a year ago and love it. I know use the keyboard but used Graffiti Anywhere - http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/graffitianyw here.shtml

The current Treo sites I frequent are Treocentral.com for news and the forums, Treonauts.com for reviews and palminfocenter.com seems to tow the palm party line.

    Good luck.

  5. From Experience on What's the Best Way to Write a Business Plan? · · Score: 4, Insightful

I recently started a business and a partnership. I googled for business plans and you can get samples for the SBA (Small Business Administration - US) probably au as well.

However after the rubber hit the road the document meant very little. That may not be the case for you since you will be looking for funding but until you have done it - it is difficult to know what you are doing.

I would suggest before you take on money and perhaps before you start your business that you read "The Partnership Charter".

It raises some good questions whether your partner is your brother (my case) or a vc company (your case).

    Good Luck

  6. Been using Vonage on Vonage to Produce a WiFi Phone · · Score: 4, Informative

I've been using Vonage and I dig it so far - altough I'm hoping the international rates come down further.

I have Verizon for land line and they charge 2.57 per minute to france. I'm not signed up for an international plan but I do have a $60 per month plan. They are shooting themselves in the foot by charging so much for basic line, vmail and international.

This idea is cool but I don't think it would be an immediate threat to the wireless carriers.

  7. What worked for Bi-lingual daughter? on Too Many Computers Hurt Learning · · Score: 1

My children are younger and our rules are similar although we (my wife mostly) are somewhat flexible.

How did you raise a bi-lingual daughter? With my limited knowledge of spanish and videos http://www.early-advantage.com/about_muzzy/ I'm trying to raise my three to be bi-lingual (if not multi-lingual. Perhaps russian after Spanish.

I'm not sure how long ago you lived there but I've heard that they have adopted firewire as the CE connection of choice (ie. between TV, VCR, DVD etc)

    Can you confirm this?

I have an HDTV with firewire (and HAVi) and I'm waiting for the holy grail for connectivity.

There is always talk of the next set top box using firewire (but the cable companies disable it):
    http://vividlogic.com/news/SA_Final_0918.pdf

And Dolby Laboratories has recently Added FireWire
    to Its Licensee Support Package:

The last item actually makes me think apple may be working behind the scenes on something DVR? Multichannel audio support?
